Fleas are external bloodsucking parasites that vary from 1.5-5 mm in length; they are often responsible for transmitting various disease, for example, deadly myxomatosis.
Dusting with an insecticidal powder especially supplied for this purpose, paying particular attention to the ears, kills all fleas (and other external parasites) present. Remember that scratching and irritation due to the presence of fleas may cause infertility in both sexes! It is obvious that a flea infestation damages the pelts.
It is important to remember that infestation can also occur from domestic pets and other mammals, wild birds, and poultry (fleas are usually versatile in their choice of host).
Cat and kitten flea sprays and powders can be used. Remember that fleas are only on the animal for approximately six to eight hours. The rest of the time they are in the surrounding area. It is equally important, therefore, to attend to the environment of the animal in order to kill the fleas where they live and breed. Anyone with a serious flea problem should consult a professional exterminator company for a concerted program of flea control.
