The Burning Man Project Official Site

It's official! I'm off work and on my way to Burning Man! Everyone at work was very supportive and envious (if those two emotions are not mutually exclusive). I'm not done on the hat but I will work on it en route. I'm coloring my hair red tonight, baking the last of the food I'm bringing and breaking open a bottle of champange I'm saving from last January with a couple of friends. Oh, and picking out music for on the way. Whew! It's been a lot of planning but now the fun starts. It's only too bad that there won't be internet access there (although supposedly there are participants who will have it via radio networking, really!) otherwise I could keep you all updated on my adventures! Oh, well, sometime in the future it will be a reality. Until then, happy Labor day weekend!

I was a very bad last night. I went out drinking and paid a man to lick my boots. He did a very good job, but now I'm realizing I should have been keeping the money in my pocket instead of indulging a fantasy. Nonetheless, my boots are clean and all ready for Burning Man.

I'm not so sure I'm ready for Burning Man. I'm still looking for a tent. I have a couple of backup plans should I decide that I can't get what I want this weekend. Some important things I need to do this weekend: laundry, food prep, sewing on my hat, packing. I have another list that I need to put together while I'm on the road, and I don't think I will have a lot of time to do that shopping either. I could be very stressed right now but I'm just happy, very happy that I'm going to Burning Man this year.

So many things happening and I've not been good about posting. I finally have a ride to Burning Man. My friend Chris Crounse contacted me and was hoping I would go with him, so I jumped at the chance. There is so much preparation to do in the next two weeks and I've been so under motivated. But I know I can do this with some perseverance, so here is just a short list of what I will be doing.

Yesterday I went fabric shopping with Purple for an idea for a hat that I came up with--the Jellyfish from Jupiter! This will basically be a headress that will fit onto the top of my leather top hat that looks (hopefully) like a big man o' war jellyfish. I have the basic idea in my head and I think I have enough time to execute it, trouble is that I'm not too adept at sewing, so even though it is a simple idea I could see myself abandoning it at the last minute if it doesn't come together quickly.

I need to find a very inexpensive dirt bike with no gears for under fifty bucks. I need to buy food for the trip, especially cliff bars which are on sale at Fred Meyers. I'm thinking of taking brown rice and miso. I need a small tent, a sleeping bag, a sleeping pad.

I need to have all my internet work done by the twenty-third. Yikes!

My work and the open Mic at Coffee Messiah converged this past week in an odd news piece appearing in the Stranger, a local weekly. Ricky Rebel, has been released from jail and has a story to tell: DRUG WAR--AIDS Patient Says Courts and King County Jail Forced Him to Stay on Harmful Drug.
