Day 12
Saturday October 8, 2011
Well this is the final morning of this special bonus trip. After all the trips in the past being 2-3 weeks long this week and a half trip seems really short. Our flight isn't until later this afternoon so we had plenty of time to get our things together before we had to head out.
For breakfast we went to the Bagel and Deli shop at Suncoast. We both got bagels for breakfast and then ordered sandwiches to go so we could eat them on the plane later.
We checked out of the Suncoast and headed out on our way. Next up was gassing up the car before heading over to the rental car facility. Returning the car was a bit of a hassle because the agent didn't have a printer to print receipts and everyone had to go to the counter to process their returns. Not only that but then getting stuck behind some douche bag that reserved a mid sized car, got a free double upgrade and wasn't happy with it because it wasn't big enough for him. Note to this douche bag, if you want an SUV for you and your buddies, then reserve one.
We took the shuttle over to the airport and checked in for our flight. The Southwest counter wasn't too busy and we were checked in quickly. From there it was off to the security lines where things were quick as well. Dee got lucky and got to go through the nude-o-scan but I got to go through the regular metal detector. That's too bad though because I would have liked to flap my junk around so the agent could have a free show.
We had plenty of time once we got to the terminal and the boarding process. I had gotten us early bird check in again and we were given spots A33 & A34.
This is flight 2169 and is scheduled to leave at 3:20pm and take exactly 5 hours landing at 11:20pm in Hartford. I originally bought these tickets on August 21 for $179 each but then rebooked them on September 13 for $150 banking the extra money in my Southwest account for a future flight. I got some rest during the flight helping to pass the time. The flight was bumpy quite a bit of the way home. People were assholes as usual though. One time the captain came on and told the flight crew to be seated, yet a few passengers feel that it is ok for them to move about the cabin. Hey assholes, if the captain tells the crew to be seated, take this as a warning that it could get pretty bad up there.
We landed in Hartford on time and it was a bit cooler here in the northeast than it was in the southwest for the last 10 days but not too much! Once we got off the plane we made our way to baggage claim to grab our stuff and then it was off to the parking lot shuttle. This went go well and we got to the car and started the long drive home.
The original plan was to decide if we were going to stay overnight here in Hartford when we landed or to drive home. This was going to be totally based on whether or not we were too tired. I felt fine and decided we'd take the 2 hour drive home.
The drive home was uneventful but I was surprised at the amount of traffic there was in the middle of the night. When we got back to the Newburgh area we hit the local diner for something to eat. Dee got spaghetti and meatballs and I got an appetizer sampler with chicken wings, chicken fingers, and nachos. I actually had to pay for this meal because they wouldn't accept my B-Connected card. The food was good and we headed out of the diner and took the short drive home from there. We rolled into the driveway at 3:00am as the bonus trip to Las Vegas came to an end.
