Day 2
Wednesday September 28, 2011
We were up early today based on the time change. We decided to eat breakfast at the buffet since we had plenty of time before we had to check out. It was later in the morning at this point today and there was no line at the buffet so being diamond didn't have much of a perk today other than getting seating in our special little room. Breakfast here is $16 each and I paid the balance with my comps. Everything was good here and they have quite a few lunch items out at this time too.
When we left the buffet we hit the casino for a short session in the casino. I had a coupon good for $50 when you earn 50 points. We played a variety of penny slots just to the 50 point level and between us cashed out with less than a $10 loss. After cashing out the coupon we were up $40. This was a nice way to start the trip gaming wise.
After playing we ran up to the room and grabbed our stuff and checked out of the hotel. To grab our stuff from Anne's and a quick stop at the dollar store before heading over to the next hotel.
Today's move is to the Tuscany on Flamingo Rd. We played here back in December a few times during their gift card promotion. Since then we never heard anything from them as far as mailers go but didn't really sweat it. Then sometime during our summer trip a host there left a message on my machine that if we wanted to come out to call her. We laughed as we know we drove past there numerous times that trip and possibly while she made that phone call. When we decided on taking this bonus trip I thought I'd call her and see what she'd offer. I left a message on her voice mail and she promptly called back when I said I was available and gave us 3 complimentary nights and $25 in free play. I looked up in my notes our past action on my card and if this is the kind of comps I can get based on that limited amount of play, this place could become a main casino for us.
When we checked in things were in order and we were assigned room J114. Things are a little different here than most casinos in town. The hotel rooms are located outside as this was originally designed as a condo/apartment project that failed years ago. The rooms here were pretty nice and had small kitchen area with a sink, fridge coffee maker and cabinet space. The living room area has a sleeper sofa, arm chair with ottoman, coffee table, end table and work desk. The bedroom area has a king bed, night stands and a dresser with 25" tube TV on it. The bathroom is large with a vanity area, bathtub, standing shower stall and the toilet is in its own room. We have a view of the spa lap pool (not to be confused with the main pool).
Once we got our things settled in the room it was off to the pool. The pool here is pretty nice with lots of tables and chairs. They also offer drinks through a waitress that roams the pool. We stayed here for a while until it started getting crowded.
We got cleaned up after pool time and went to dinner. We'd never eaten here before and I didn't know how much in comps I had so a quick stop at the slot club told me I had $10 cash available and $42 in comps. This would be plenty to get a meal! We chose Marilyn's Cafe and I got the Chicken Pot Pie special while Dee got the Baked Ziti. The service here was good and the food was excellent.
When we were done eating we hit the casino. Today is a 10X day but there are some machines excluded, which would be our favorite bank of triple plays. Instead we played some single line video poker. We started off on one bank and got some play but Dee ended up losing her buy in. I lost $60 so we moved to another bank and started again. Dee had bad luck on one machine and then moved to another scoring a few bonus quads, regular quads and a set of aces. She finished her day even while I couldn't hit any quads at all. The whole time we played I only hit 4 quads and even took a shot at 50¢ video poker with no luck. In total I dropped $250 but we did rack up over 76,000 points.
We called it a night at about midnight with just a minor net loss for the day
Total win/loss for the day -$200
Total Comps for the day $147
