Let's Go Mets! June 15 - HOME GAME #36 vs Toronto Blue Jays (34-30)

Ex Blue Jay prospect Noah Syndergaard (2-4) faces Mark Buehrle (7-4). The Blue Jays have won 11 games in a row coming into Citi Field.

35-30

Lets Go Mets! In maybe the most exciting comeback win I can remember in a while, the Mets stopped Toronto's 11 game win streak (Which tied the Mets earlier 11 game streak as the best in the Majors this season). Noah Syndergaard gave up a tremendous home run blast to Jose Bautista in the first inning but was able to bear down and stymie the blue bird's offense. Noah allowed one run (Toronto had been averaging 8 runs a game during their win streak) and struck out 11 including retiring 16 of the last 17 Blue Jays he faced. Bautista's 9th inning blast tied the game at two and sent it into extra innings. The biggest play to me was in the 11th when Ruben Tejada avoided a tag between 1st and 2nd long enough to avoid a game ending double play ball by Cuddyer. That set the stage for the overshift single by Duda that enabled Cuddyer to score all the way from first and win the game.

Chance of rain but never did

Hyundai Club buffet

I enjoyed the Hyundai Club amenities tonight. A buffet of brisket, nachos, hot dogs, chicken, crab cakes [Yes, I ate crab cakes at a ballgame], ice cream, peanuts, cracker jack, cotton candy, cookies, etc. It's an awesome selection of ballpark treats plus bathrooms and a bar only for those sitting in the club area. If I was a season ticket holder, I would buy these seats every game!

View from Hyundai club seat

As I am usually always sitting in an aisle seat, that means I end up standing up to allow nearly everyone else in the row to leave numerous times. Tonight a group of a dozen or so included some younger children who kept going back inside for cotton candy, cookies, etc. One girl looks at me, holds up one finger and says "This will be my only time". After about a dozen trips back and forth by her and the others, the adults kept apologizing and offered to buy me a beer, soda, or water but I politely declined. I didn't mind and started to give the kids a hard time about not bringing me back anything. The two gentleman I had chatted with behind me said "Skid, you are the most gracious fan in the stadium". It made me laugh because you see so many people that something like that would ruin their experience.

Flores' game winning hit

If you hear someone cursing in the Flores video, I plead the 5th. The Blue Jays players and fans were very rowdy and exuberant after tying the game in the ninth. That ticked me off and made me want to beat them all the more. I even turned my hat inside out [known as a "Rally Cap"] to ignite the 11th inning comeback (I make an appearance in the video). That was my first rally cap in years. We used to do them all the time in the late 1980's, it usually ruins a good fitted cap.

I have filmed all four Mets walk off hits so far this season. There are replays of every game available but having filmed the walk off myself and post them is fun. It's not quite the same as cell phone filming at concerts, which is one of my pet peeves. And I don't have my phone in someone else's sight line like those wonderful music fans who hold up their phone to block everyone's view behind them. And they have such good seats but watch their phone the whole show.
