June 12 - HOME GAME #33 vs Atlanta Braves (29-31)
Bartolo Colon (8-4) faces Atlanta's Alex Wood (4-3)
33-29 |
Lets Go Mets! Bartolo Colon wins his 9th game of the year as the Mets gain a game on both the Nationals and the Braves in the standings. SS Wilmer Flores batted in the cleanup spot for the first time in his career and responded with a home run and scored twice. Michael Cuddyer again came up with a big two out RBI hit to give the Mets some insurance in the seventh. The Mets turned a double play in the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings to stop Braves comeback efforts. Jeurys Familia pitched the ninth and got his 18th save.

Pre game Youth Baseball walk |
The Mets hosted youth baseball night with players and coaches parading around the infield. I tried to get a nice picture of the NY logo in center field but the shadows blocked a good shot. As usual, I did a walk around the ballpark before the game but today took a lot of pictures of oddball views for an idea I have to build a website addition that would consist of Citi Field photos. Most would be from strange angles or different views you normally would not see.

Game #33 view |
After three games behind home plate for the SF Giants series, tonight I sat underneath the Pepsi Porch in right field. I had a good view of the pitching staff entering and exiting the bullpen and seemed to be in Curtis Granderson's back pocket during the game. This seat has a nice stadium view while watching the game but has obstructed views of all three video boards. There are TV monitors to see replays but they were behind me and I didn't watch them much. It was fun to see RF Curtis Granderson interacting with the crowd in right.
Mets outfielders |
Despite the obvious issues facing the Mets with injuries to key players and a lack of consistent hitting, with the win over the Braves and a loss by the Nationals the Mets open up a game and a half lead over Washington and a three and a half game lead over third place Atlanta.
