The Matrix
1999, US/Australia, 131 mins, colour. Dir: The Wachowski Brothers.
Stars: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving.

Perception:The everyday world is real.
Reality: The world is a hoax, an elaborate deception spun by all-powerful machines of artificial intelligence that control us. Reeves and Fishburne lead the fight to free humankind from the Matrix. The film is full of mind-blowing stunts and 'techno-slaming' visuals. The story is great and is really something to think about. Probably the best movie of 1999 and a must see film.
Monty Python's Life of Brian
1979, UK, 93 mins, colour. Dir: Terry Jones.
Stars: John Cleese, Michael Palin, Graham Chapman, Terry Gilliam, Eric Idle, Terry Jones.

A hysterically funny Monty Python film that caused an outcry from religious organisations due to its pastiche of the New Testament. Far be it for me to join the debate but the team claim they have nothing against Jesus. "he was a bloody good bloke even though he wasn't as funny as Margaret Thatcher". Highlights include 'What have the Romans ever done for us', the suicide squad and 'Biggus Dickus'. Well worth a watch.
