Blade Runner
1983, US, colour. Dir: Ridley Scott.
Stars: Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer.

An excellent mixture of film noir and science-fiction set in a stunning futuristic Los Angeles environment. Ford puts in a good performance as the clichéd loner detective who has been trained to hunt down and retire (kill) replicants. One of the best fight scenes and movie death in history. Easily Hauer’s best movie. Watch it and be thrilled.
Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid
1969, US, 112 mins, colour. Dir: George Roy Hill.
Stars: Paul Newman, Robert Retford, Katharine Ross, Strother Matrin, Jeff Corey, Cloris Leachman.

Perhaps the greatest western of the sixties and certainly the most likable, with Paul Newman and Robert Redford at their most charismatic as the eponymous outlaws. The dialogue shines with constant wit, the action is spot-on, the photography Conrad Hall's best-ever. Academy Awards for screenplay, cinematography, music score and the song 'Raindrops Keep Fallin' on My Head'.
