Adoption Is Official....So Let's Go to Wal-Mart! The first night was very calm and I told Amy that I would take "first shift". Little O was not too happy at about 9:00pm when we decided to try to put her to bed. Amy and I figured we were in for a very long night. I took her for a walk. We did the first seven floors of the hotel. Walk, rock. Walk, sing, walk, pray. We were doing good. Then we got to the 8th floor. That is the floor with the pool. We walked around the pool and tucked in the corner was a rocking chair. I set her in my lap and faced her out towards the pool and started to rock. 10 minutes later we were both asleep. I think I was out for 10 minutes. She was out for the rest of the night. I walked her upstairs and put her down. I got in bed (with my clothes on thinking I would be up in a few minutes) and slept 'til 7:00am! When I woke up I got to see the sunrise and let me tell you, this town is very polluted. I actually did some research and found out it's second only to Mumbai, in Asia, and 4th in the world for poor air quality (aka pollution).
![]() The girls just got together and hung out this morning. Abby and Emma are very much enjoying being big sisters. They are so helpful. They like to feed her and play with her. It sometimes makes me wonder what my job is.
![]() We then got up and started the day with a bit of breakfast, and then headed back to the Public Works office. We had to make the adoption final. What they do is give you the baby "on loan" for the first 24-hours. They call it "harmony time". It is to make sure you accept the baby and that the baby accepts you. Then you come back a day later and boom....she is yours! It took about five minutes. Fist we did the paperwork and made a promise never to abandon her, then it was over.
![]() It was just like yesterday. It seemed like a dream. It went by so quickly. I am glad that we had Abby on the video camera and Emma on the digital camera because without them, we would have no idea what actually happened. Next stop....WAL-MART! Wal-Marts are all the same. We came in the door and at the end of the aisle were some chips. We were looking for some snack food so I picked them up so see what kind they were.

![]() People would stop us and want to touch Emma's hair and talk to her. They also wanted to know why we had a Chinese baby. We actually got a card from our guide that basically states: "this girl was abandoned and that we are adopting her and will give her a good home". At least that is what she told us that it said. When we were at the Great Wall we had about 10 families ask if they could take a picture of our girls with their family. The fact is they had never seen a blonde girl before. It was funny. After an hour and less then 65USD in Wally World, we headed back to the hotel. Olivia went down for a nap and I took Abby and Emma bowling. Yes, the hotel has 10 lanes and yes, the kids beat me! Amy got to spend some time with Olivia as she seems to have taken to me more (we think there wasn't a real male role-model in the house).
![]() After bowling, we hung out, took baths and got ready for bed. Abby and Emma had friends over (yes friends!) and then helped us get the baby ready for bed. Bath, bottle then bed.
![]() Sounds like a dream life to me. I take a bath, have a bottle and fall into bed.
