Today was the longest yet. I arranged a car and driver to take us to the area where my new daughter was from. This was quite a long way away. We jumped into the car and rode north for 2.5 hours to an area called YouYang. We went to the only tourist attraction that was known in the area: A pagoda that is over 6-hundred-years-old.
![]() While at the pagoda, Abby and Emma achieved rock star status. It was very interesting. We were far from any large city, so some children were actually afraid of the pale people. Some of the older people wanted to touch Emma's blonde hair. Abby gave candy to all of the little kids, but we quickly learned that candy can be communicated via the force or something because kids (and adults) started to come in large groups. We did have a chance to get Olivia some items from her "home town" including: a local poem on a bamboo book, a candle holder and other things, but we also had the chance to dress up the kids in traditional empress clothes and get their picture taken. It was VERY expensive at 3 Yuan (about 30 cents)!!

![]() I had a bet with my driver that went like this: If I buy a beer it will be 3 times what you pay. So we went to a street vendor and he paid 3 Yuan (30 cents) for his half-gallon of cold beer. I paid 10 Yuan (1 dollar) and that was only after I bargained! I guess I had gringo written all over my forehead. We saw our first accident in China. A motorbike got hit by a car, but I believe that the only reason that the accident happened was because the person on the bike did not trust in the force. For the record, no one was hurt. The kids are sick of food in China so today was our second trip to KFC.
![]() Then, we drove the 2.5 hours back. The scenery was cool. Lots of water buffalos, rice fields and other interesting crops.
![]() Got home at about 6:00pm after a good 10-hours of touring. Long day. Time for a bite then a bath and bed. Night-Night! More tomorrow.... China OUT.
