Today was fairly uneventful. We have settled into a routine. Wake up early (7:00am), breakfast, morning tour, light lunch, baby nap, take a nice walk, light dinner, bath, then bed. Olivia loves the bath. As a matter of fact, I think she would not be able to sleep unless she takes her bath. Already a princess after 4 days! This morning we drove out into the countryside. Our bus driver took us to his village. It was very spread out and was very interesting. On the way, both Olivia and Momma caught some shut-eye on the bus.
![]() The village was typical and showed the everyday life of someone living outside the city in China. We actually were invited into someone's house. They had all of the neighborhood girls over playing, and they were all Abby's age. The house was very simple. Dirt floor, open doors, but if you looked inside they had a color TV.
![]() On the way back, we crossed over the river and there were all kinds of junk boats. People live on these boats as well as use them for transport.
![]() We then went back to the hotel for a nap. Then got to take a walkabout. We just wandered about a mile up the road. We got a lot of curious looks. It seems like gringos are still not seen very often. I do not think they understand why people are adopting from China. I do not think that the average person knows what problems the one child policy creates.

![]() Another thing is traffic. Lanes, lights and turn signals are just suggestions. I think they drive using the force because I have yet to see any accident. I have been told by my guide: "as long as you do not make eye contact, you have the right of way." However, it is hard to step out into traffic with the kids in tow and just hope that the cars stop. Oh, and sidewalks? As if!....Sure, they exist, but they drive on those, too!
