Prospects looked bleak for Eastern Kentucky’s hopes of adding a win today after Robert Morris took a 23-9 lead with 1:44 remaining in the first half.  However the Colonels got a much needed spark when Darrien Tipps-Clemons blocked a Robert Morris punt at the Robert Morris five yard line and Brentton Ervin picked the ball and scored making the score 23-16 with five seconds remaining in the half.  The score went back and forth in the second half with Robert Morris’ Nick Bisceglia connecting on a 40 yard field goal with 26 seconds remaining on the clock to knot the score at 33-33 and force overtime.  EKU went on offense first and decided it was “Scott time” as LJ Scott carried the ball four straight times with the final carry being a two yard touchdown run and Sam Hayworth kicked the extra point to give the Colonels a 40-33 lead.  Robert Morris responded with a two yard touchdown pass to Dorian Bowie from Jimmy Walker to pull within one; 50-39.  Robert Morris decided to go for the win instead of kicking the extra point for the tie but Jared Tucker swatted the pass away in the end-zone to ensure the 40-39 victory.  This improves EKU’s record to 6-4 and gave the Colonels their fourth victory in the last five games.

Eastern Kentucky University recorded 22 first downs and 337 yards of total offense.  The Colonels were penalized 11 times for 110 yards and had a pass intercepted.  Robert Morris recorded 24 first downs and 426 yards of total offense.  The Colonials were penalized six times for 58 yards, lost a fumble, and had a pass intercepted.

LJ Scott led Eastern Kentucky’s ground game with 82 yards and three touchdowns on 19 carries.  Parker McKinney carried the ball 10 times for 55 yards.  Parker McKinney completed 17 of 34 passes for 186 yards and one touchdown with one interception.  BK Smith caught four passes for 48 yards.  Jaelin Carter also caught four passes for 26 yards.  Neiko Creamer added three receptions for 44 yards.  Jackson Beerman added three receptions for 41 yards and a touchdown.  Darien Tipps-Clemons returned a punt for 21 yards and blocked a punt that led to a scoop-and-score of five yards and a touchdown by Brentton Ervin on the recovery.  Jaelin Carter returned four kickoffs for 81 yards and a long return of 24 yards.  Steven Crowder led the defense with two solo and 11 assisted tackles.  Gavin Bryant added five solo and six assisted tackles.  Cornelius Floyd recorded five solo and five assisted tackles.  Leodis Moore III recovered a fumble and Jared Tucker intercepted a pass he returned for 18 yards.
