Henderson County  (26-3)  vs.  Butler  (21-8)

Henderson County defeated Butler by a score of 62-54.  Henderson County held a 24-9 advantage in free throw points.  Henderson County shot 42.9% from the field including two of five from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 24 of 29 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 18 Butler turnovers.  Butler shot 30.6% from the field including seven of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Bearettes connected on nine of 18 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Henderson County turnovers.

5-6 Sr. Ariel Barnes led Henderson County with 30 points including 16 of 17 from the free throw line.  5-9 Fr. Ellie Fruit added 13 points including two three point baskets.

Marion County  (33-1)  vs.  Mercy Academy (23-8)

Mercy raced out to a 22-12 first quarter lead on their way to a 67-51 victory over Marion County, the number one ranked team in the tournament.  Mercy shot 44.1% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on nine of 14 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 20 points off 19 Marion County turnovers.  Marion County shot 41.2% from the field including one of nine from beyond the arc.  The Lady Knights connected on eight of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored eight points off 13 Mercy turnovers.

5-9 Sr. Ellen Sholtes led Mercy with 16 points and six rebounds.  5-8 Jr. Emily Goetz and 5-8 Jr. Juliann Miller added 13 and 12 points respectively.  5-8 Sr. Malisa Cruz chipped in with 10 points including three three point baskets and pulled down seven rebounds.

6-1 Fr. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers led Marion County with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  5-9 Fr. Makayla Epps added 13 points.5-9 So. Bre Elder recorded six points and eight rebounds.

Rowan county led 18-7 after the first quarter on their way to a 47-39 victory over Breathitt County.  Rowan County shot 32.6% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Lady Vikings connected on 17 of 25 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 13 Breathitt County turnovers.  Breathitt County shot 27.8% from the field including only two of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cats connected on seven of seven free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored four points off 11 Rowan County turnovers.

5-8 Sr. Natasha Kissinger led Rowan County with 17 points and seven rebounds.  5-5 Jr. Tierra Hamilton added 13 points including two three point baskets.  5-10 Sr. Adri Neely recorded seven points and 12 rebounds.

5-11 So. Kendall Noble led Breathitt County with 21 points, eight rebounds, six assists, and four steals.  6-1 Sr. Eden Keeton recorded six points and 15 rebounds.

Clay County defeated Anderson County by a score of 70-55.  Clay County shot 56.5% from the field including one of one from the three point line.  The Lady Tigers connected on 17 of 27 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 13 Anderson County turnovers.  Anderson County shot 33.9% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Bearcats connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 21 Clay County turnovers.

5-7 Jr. Kayla Smith, 5-11 Fr. Morgan Chestnut, and 5-9 So. Sabrina Smith led Clay County with 14, 13, and 13 points respectively.  6-1 Jr. Whitney Belle Jackson added 12 points and nine rebounds.  5-5 So. Alisha Mitchell chipped in with 11 points and seven rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Jordan Phillips recorded seven points and eight rebounds.

5-10 8th grader MacKenzie Cann led Anderson County with 20 points including four three point baskets.  5-9 Sr. Kara Yeaste added 14 points.  6-1 So. Sydney Brown chipped in with 13 points.

Lafayette  (22-6)  vs.  Scott County  (26-6)

Scott County jumped out to a 21-6 first quarter lead and played well the entire game in a 76-50 victory over a good Lafayette squad.  Scott County’s defense was impressive tonight as they scored 29 points off 21 Lafayette turnovers and recorded 14 steals and seven blocked shots.

Scott County shot 49.2% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 13 of 20 free throws and  pulled down 39 rebounds.  Lafayette shot 36.5% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

6-2 Sr. Ge-Lawn Guyn led a balanced Scott County attack with 18 points, four assists, and four blocked shots.  6-8 Sr. Dakotah Euton added 16 points and 12 rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Chad Jackson chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.  6-3 Sr. Austin Flannery also recorded 10 points.  6-3 So. Tamron Manning added nine points, six rebounds, and six steals.  6-4 Jr. Tanner Shotwell also recorded nine points.

6-7 8th grader Jackson Davis led Lafayette with 16 points and five rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Michael Walker added 11 points including two three point baskets.  6-2 Sr. Domonique Hagans chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.  5-11 Sr. John Burton recorded nine points on three three point baskets.

Marion County outscored Elizabethtown 14-4 in the second quarter on their way to a 54-40 victory.  Marion county shot 41.7% from the field including one of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off nine Elizabethtown turnovers.  Elizabethtown shot 32.6% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pantehers connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off eight Marion County turnovers.

Butler  (20-8)  vs.  Bullitt East  (27-3)  (Girls)

Butler rallied from a one point deficit; 43-42 with a little over two minutes left in the game to defeat Bullitt East by a score of 48-43.  Butler led 36-20 in the third quarter but Bullitt East roared back to go on a 23-6 run to take their short-lived lead.  This was a game of runs as Bullitt East led 10-2 after the first quarter.

Butler shot 39.5% from the field including zero of six from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 18 of 21 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 15  points off 18 Bullitt East turnovers.  Bullitt East shot 35.1% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Butler turnovers.

5-8 Jr. Megan Cureton, 5-6 Jr. Heather Wheat, and 5-6 So. MacKenzie Martinez led Butler with 10, nine, and eight points respectively.  Wheat also recorded six steals.  5-7 Fr. Aareon Smith added seven points and seven rebounds.

5-10 Sr. Shelby Romine and 5-11 Sr. Kayla Thacker led Bullitt East with eight points each.  5-6 Jr. jessica Philpott added seven points.

Christian Academy of Louisville  (25-5)  vs.  Mercy Academy  (22-8)  (Girls)

Mercy Academy finished the game on a 13-0 run to close the game and claim a 58-47 victory over Christian Academy of Louisville.  Mercy’s defense resulted in 12 steals and 18 points scored on 20 Cal turnovers.

Mercy shot 42.6% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 16 pf 19 free throws and pulled down 22 rebounds.  CAL shot 41.7% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Centurions connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored three points off eight Mercy turnovers.

Scott County pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Franklin County by a score of 74-56.  Scott County shot 47.4% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 31.5% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Flyers connected on 20 of 32 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored four points off 12 Scott County turnovers.

Mercy defeated Jeffersontown by a score of 48-32.  Mercy scored 32 points off 27 Jeffersontown turnovers.

Sacred Heart Academy  (17-13)  vs.  Christian Academy of Louisville  (24-5)  (Girls)  (Semifinal)

This game started on March 4th and CAL held a 42-39 lead with 4:34 remaining in the game when the power went off at Bellarmine University.  The game was resumed on March 5th and CAL earned a 48-42 victory.  CAL raced out to a 23-9 lead in the second quarter but Sacred Heart rallied to cut the deficit to two; 39-37 entering the final quarter.  CAL outscored Sacred Heart 9-5 in the final quarter.

CAL shot 41.9% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Centurions connected on seven of 16 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 30.5% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 CAL turnovers.

6-1 Sr. Antonita Slaughter led CAL with 18 points and nine rebounds.  5-10 sr. Allison Karst added 15 points.  5-9 Fr. China Dow recorded 10 points and nine rebounds.

Bullitt East  (26-3)  vs.  Louisville Holy Cross  ((25-7)  (Girls)  (Semifinal)

Bullitt East defeated Louisville Holy Cross by a score of 54-36.  Bullitt East shot 46.5% from the field including three of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Chargers connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 28 points off 27 Holy Cross turnovers.  Holy Cross shot 46.2% from the field including two of five from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cougars connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Bullitt East turnovers.  Holy Cross only attempted 26 shots from the field.

5-11 Sr. Kayla Thacker and 5-10 Sr. Shelby Romine led Bullitt East with 16 and 11 points respectively.  6-2 Jr. Lindey young added 10 points and six rebounds.

6-2 Sr. Olivia Moore led Holy Cross with 17 points and five rebounds.

Butler defeated Central by a score of 55-46.  Butler shot 41.9% from the field including zero of two from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 19 of 32 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 21 Centarl turnovers.  Central shot 41.9% from the field including five of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Jackets connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 18 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 17 Butler turnovers.

5-7 Fr. Aareon Smith led Butler with 15 points and 10 rebounds.  5-8 Jr. Megan Cureton added 11 points.

5-8 Jr. Brianna Averette led Central with 16 points including two three point baskets.  5-5 Sr. Shaneal Brents and 5-10 Jr. Crissa Washington added eight and seven points respectively.

Madison Central  (28-1)  vs.  Franklin County  (24-7)  (Girls)  (Semifinal)

Franklin County pulled away late in the game to defeat Madison Central 69-59 and hand the Lady Indians their second loss of the season.  Madison Central led 57-56 with 2:26 remaining in the game when Jenna Cornelison fouled out of the game. Franklin County closed out the game on a 13-2 run connecting on 13 of 16 free throws as Madison Central began to foul to regain possession.  There were 14 lead changes and 11 ties in this game with the final score being the largest margin of the night.

Franklin County shot 47.6% from the field including zero of two from beyond the arc.  The Lady Flyers connected on 29 of 41 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 17 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 36.4% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Indians connected on 15 of 21 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 21 Franklin County turnovers.

5-11 Sr. Andrea Howard led Franklin County with 19 points including nine of 12 free throws and pulled down five rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Chelsea Craig added 15 points including seven of seven free throws and pulled down eight rebounds.  5-10 So. Ashli Mayes chipped in with 14 points and nine rebounds.

5-5 Fr. Larryn Brooks led Madison Central with 16 points, seven rebounds, and four assists.  5-9 Jr. Jenna Cornelison and 5-5 Sr. Christina Ciolek each recorded 11 points.

Scott County pulled away in the second half for a 62-48 victory over Lexington Christian Academy.  Scott County shot 46.9% from the field including one of seven from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot  33.3% from the field including four of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 14 of 22 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored five points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

5-10 Sr. Madisen Webb led Scott County with 22 points, five rebounds, and eight assists.  5-10 Jr. Kristen Stainback added 17 points.  5-9 Jr. Alex McKenzie chipped in with 10 points and six rebounds.  5-10 8th grader Tereka Guyn chipped in with nine points and seven rebounds.

6-2 Sr. Sarah Beth Barnette closed out a brilliant career with LCA with 31 points including three three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  Miss Barnette is another top candidate for Miss Basketball and finishes her career with three All ‘A’ titles and one state championship.  5-11 Jr. Kelli Rinehart added 10 points and 10 rebounds.
