Rowan County  (22-8)  vs.  Mercy Academy  ((25-8)  (Semifinal)

Mercy scored 32 points off 30 Rowan County turnovers in a 53-45 victory over Rowan County.  Mercy shot 35.4% from the field including one of nine from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 18 of 21 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and held a 10-3 advantage in bench scoring.  Rowan County shot 38.5% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Vikings connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 15 Mercy turnovers.

5-9 Sr. Ellen Sholtes led Mercy with 22 points and six steals.  5-9 Sr. Therese Montano added seven points and five steals.  5-8 Sr. Malisa Cruz recorded six points and eight rebounds.

5-10 Sr. Adri Neely led Rowan County with 17 points and seven rebounds.  5-5 Jr. Tierra Hamilton added 15 points including two three point baskets.  5-10 Sr. Jenna Kiser pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds.

Scott County outscored Rockcastle County 23-17 in the final quarter to earn a 62-59 victory and advance to the championship game. Scott County shot 34% from the field including zero of five from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 28 of 39 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 16 Rockcastle County turnovers.  Rockcastle County shot 43.2% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rockets connected on 16 of 24 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored nine points off 13 Scott County turnovers.

5-10 Jr. Kristen Stainback led Scott County with 26 points. 5-10 Sr. Madisen Webb added 22 points and seven rebounds.

5-5 Jr. Angie Lawrence led Rockcastle County with 19 points.  6-2 Jr. Sara Hammond added 17 points, eight rebounds, and six blocked shots.  5-6 Jr. Kristin Abney chipped in with 10 points. 5-10 Sr. Jackie Alexander recorded seven points and nine rebounds.

Mercy Academy pulled away in the second half to defeat Henderson County by a score of 71-57.  Mercy shot 47.7% from the field including three of 12 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 26 of 39 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored seven points off 14 Henderson County turnovers.  Henderson County shot 32.3% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 11 of 14 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 15 Mercy turnovers.

5-9 Sr. Therese Montano led Mercy with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four assists.  5-8 Jr. Juliann Miller also tallied 16 points.  5-9 Sr. Ellen Sholtes and 5-8 Jr. Emily Goetz added 15 and 13 points respectively.5-8 Sr. Malisa Cruz recorded nine points and seven rebounds.

Rowan County outscored Clay County 29-15 in the second half to earn a 48-31 victory.  Rowan County shot 29.7% from the field including seven of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Vikings connected on 19 of 24 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 19 Clay County turnovers.  Rowan County held 21-0 advantage in three point points.  Clay County shot 41.4% from the field including zero of four from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored seven points off 10 Rowan County turnovers.

5-5 Jr. Tierra Hamilton led Rowan County with 13 points including two three point baskets.  5-4 Sr. Kaitlyn Muncy added 12 points including two three point baskets.  5-8 Sr. Natasha Kissinger recorded 11 points including two three point baskets and pulled down seven rebounds.

Scott County defeated Boone County 67-66 in an overtime thriller.  Boone County’s Sydney Moss hit a late three pointer in regulation to tie the score and send the game to overtime.  Kristen Stainback nailed a long range three pointer with four seconds remaining in overtime to give Scott County the victory.

Scott County shot 45.6% from the field including three of five from the three point line.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored nine points off 10 Boone County turnovers.  Boone County shot 41.8% from the field including seven of 30 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

5-10 Jr. Kristen Stainback led Scott County with 28 points and eight rebounds.  5-9 Jr. Alex McKenzie added 19 points including two three point baskets and pulled down six rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Madisen Webb recorded 13 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

Rockcastle County defeated GRC by a score of 56-45.  Rockcastle County shot 45.7% from the field including six of 10 from the three point line.  The Lady Rockets connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds and scored 11 points off nine George Rogers Clark turnovers.  George Rogers Clark shot 36.4% from the field including five of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 15 Rockcastle County turnovers.

5-10 Sr. Jackie Alexander led Rockcastle County with 23 points including three three point baskets and pulled down eight rebounds.  6-2 Jr. Sara Hammond added 11 points, nine rebounds, and seven blocked shots. 

5-7 Jr. Preshia Rogers led GRC with 15 points, five rebounds, and five steals.  5-9 Sr. Jewell Rogers added 13 points.

LTMS coaches Nimbo Hammonds, Tyrone Johnson, and Reid Brown started the following lineup:  Tykie Tyler, Teddy Ware, Jordan Green, Donnie Lewis, and Charles “Snoop” Johnson.  Beaumont coaches Browning, Payne, and Rose countered with Vince Davis, Jordan Hurst, Shon Wright, Isaiah Olige, and Conner McHugh..

LTMS pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Beaumont 50-34 to claim the championship.  LTMS shot 44.2% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Blackcats connected on nine of 15 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 22 Beaumont turnovers.  Beaumont shot 36.4% from the field including three of six from beyond the arc.  The Colts connected on seven of eight free throws, pulled down 25 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 LTMS turnovers.

Charles “Snoop” Johnson led the victors with 23 points and six rebounds.  Johnson was 10 of 15 from the field including one of three from the three point line and two of five from the free throw line.  Johnson was virtually impossible to defend with his slashing moves to the basket.  Teddy Ware added 10 points including two three point baskets.  Jordan Green pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.

Shon wright led Beaumont with nine points.  Conner McHugh added eight points including two three point baskets.Vince Davis chipped in with six points and seven rebounds.

Boone County utilized a strong inside game to defeat Bowling Green 48-44.  Boone County held a 42-29 advantage in rebounds and a 14-5 advantage in second chance points.  Boone County shot 38.8% from the field including two of 13 from the three point line.  The Lady Rebels connected on eight of 15 free throws and did not score on six Bowling Green turnovers.  Bowling Green shot 31.9% from the field including three of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Purples connected on 11 of 17 free throws and scored 12 points off 12 Boone County turnovers.

5-11 So. Sydney Moss led Boone County with 28 points and 16 rebounds.  5-2 Sr. Heather Sandlin added 11 points including two three point baskets.  Sandlin also pulled down eight rebounds and dished out six assists.

Lafayette  (22-6)  vs.  Scott County  (26-6)

Scott County jumped out to a 21-6 first quarter lead and played well the entire game in a 76-50 victory over a good Lafayette squad.  Scott County’s defense was impressive tonight as they scored 29 points off 21 Lafayette turnovers and recorded 14 steals and seven blocked shots.

Scott County shot 49.2% from the field including five of 12 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 13 of 20 free throws and  pulled down 39 rebounds.  Lafayette shot 36.5% from the field including six of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored eight points off 15 Scott County turnovers.

6-2 Sr. Ge-Lawn Guyn led a balanced Scott County attack with 18 points, four assists, and four blocked shots.  6-8 Sr. Dakotah Euton added 16 points and 12 rebounds.  6-4 Sr. Chad Jackson chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.  6-3 Sr. Austin Flannery also recorded 10 points.  6-3 So. Tamron Manning added nine points, six rebounds, and six steals.  6-4 Jr. Tanner Shotwell also recorded nine points.

6-7 8th grader Jackson Davis led Lafayette with 16 points and five rebounds.  6-1 Sr. Michael Walker added 11 points including two three point baskets.  6-2 Sr. Domonique Hagans chipped in with 10 points and seven rebounds.  5-11 Sr. John Burton recorded nine points on three three point baskets.

Marion county  (32-1)  vs.  Elizabethtown  (26-5)  (Girls)

Marion County outscored Elizabethtown 14-4 in the second quarter on their way to a 54-40 victory.  Marion county shot 41.7% from the field including one of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Knights connected on 13 of 18 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored six points off nine Elizabethtown turnovers.  Elizabethtown shot 32.6% from the field including three of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Pantehers connected on seven of nine free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored four points off eight Marion County turnovers.

5-9 Fr. Makayla Epps led Marion County with 24 points and seven rebounds.  6-1 Fr. Kyvin Goodin-Rogers added 15 points and 10 rebounds.  5-7 Sr. Andrea King chipped in with eight points.  5-9 So. Bre Elder recorded seven points and seven rebounds.

6-0 Jr. Adelaide Luckett led Elizabethtown with 14 points and 13 rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Natalie Greenwell added 14 points.

6th Region Tournament Girls Championship

Butler  (20-8)  vs.  Bullitt East  (27-3)  (Girls)

Butler rallied from a one point deficit; 43-42 with a little over two minutes left in the game to defeat Bullitt East by a score of 48-43.  Butler led 36-20 in the third quarter but Bullitt East roared back to go on a 23-6 run to take their short-lived lead.  This was a game of runs as Bullitt East led 10-2 after the first quarter.

Butler shot 39.5% from the field including zero of six from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 18 of 21 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 15  points off 18 Bullitt East turnovers.  Bullitt East shot 35.1% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Butler turnovers.

5-8 Jr. Megan Cureton, 5-6 Jr. Heather Wheat, and 5-6 So. MacKenzie Martinez led Butler with 10, nine, and eight points respectively.  Wheat also recorded six steals.  5-7 Fr. Aareon Smith added seven points and seven rebounds.

5-10 Sr. Shelby Romine and 5-11 Sr. Kayla Thacker led Bullitt East with eight points each.  5-6 Jr. jessica Philpott added seven points.

Christian Academy of Louisville  (25-5)  vs.  Mercy Academy  (22-8)  (Girls)

Mercy Academy finished the game on a 13-0 run to close the game and claim a 58-47 victory over Christian Academy of Louisville.  Mercy’s defense resulted in 12 steals and 18 points scored on 20 Cal turnovers.

Mercy shot 42.6% from the field including two of 11 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 16 pf 19 free throws and pulled down 22 rebounds.  CAL shot 41.7% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Centurions connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored three points off eight Mercy turnovers.

5-9 Sr. Ellen Sholtes led Mercy with 16 points and four steals.  Sholtes was five of seven from the field and six of six from the free throw line.  5-8 Jr. Juliann Miller added 14 points.  5-9 Sr. Therese Montano chipped in with 12 points and five rebounds.  5-8 Sr. Malisa Cruz recorded five points, eight rebounds, and five steals.

5-9 Fr. China Dow led CAL with 16 points and 10 rebounds.  6-2 Sr. Antonita Slaughter added 14 points and seven rebounds.

Scott County  (22-6)  vs.  Franklin County  (25-7)  (Girls)  (Championship)

Scott County pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Franklin County by a score of 74-56.  Scott County shot 47.4% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Cardinals connected on 18 of 22 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 19 Franklin County turnovers.  Franklin County shot 31.5% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Flyers connected on 20 of 32 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, and scored four points off 12 Scott County turnovers.

5-10 Sr. Madison Webb led Scott County with 23 points and six assists.  5-10 Jr. Kristen Stainback added 20 points and six assists.  5-10 8th grader Tereka Guyn chipped in with 12 points.  5-9 Jr. Alex McKenzie recorded eight points and eight rebounds.

5-11 Sr. Andrea Howard led Franklin County with 23 points and 10 rebounds.  5-10 Sr. Chelsea Craig added 12 points and 10 rebounds.  5-6 Jr. Lacinda Hack chipped in with 10 points.
