6th Region Tournament Girls Championship

Butler  (20-8)  vs.  Bullitt East  (27-3)  (Girls)

Butler rallied from a one point deficit; 43-42 with a little over two minutes left in the game to defeat Bullitt East by a score of 48-43.  Butler led 36-20 in the third quarter but Bullitt East roared back to go on a 23-6 run to take their short-lived lead.  This was a game of runs as Bullitt East led 10-2 after the first quarter.

Butler shot 39.5% from the field including zero of six from the three point line.  The Bearettes connected on 18 of 21 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored 15  points off 18 Bullitt East turnovers.  Bullitt East shot 35.1% from the field including two of seven from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 18 Butler turnovers.

5-8 Jr. Megan Cureton, 5-6 Jr. Heather Wheat, and 5-6 So. MacKenzie Martinez led Butler with 10, nine, and eight points respectively.  Wheat also recorded six steals.  5-7 Fr. Aareon Smith added seven points and seven rebounds.

5-10 Sr. Shelby Romine and 5-11 Sr. Kayla Thacker led Bullitt East with eight points each.  5-6 Jr. jessica Philpott added seven points.

Butler (48) – Smith 7, Cureton 10, Corey 2, Wheat 9, Martinez 8, Moore 3, Stallard 5, Lawrence 4.

Bullitt East (43) – Romine 8, Troutman 4, Johnson 5, Thacker 8, Philpott 7, Isabel 3, Polson 5, Young 3.
