2010 7th Region Tournament (Girls)

March 4-5, 2010 Day 2

 

Mercy Academy  (21-8)  vs.  Jeffersontown  (20-8)  (Girls)  (Semifinal)

Mercy defeated Jeffersontown by a score of 48-32.  Mercy scored 32 points off 27 Jeffersontown turnovers. 

Mercy shot 32.8% from the field including zero of 13 from the three point line.  The Jaguars connected on 10 of 15 free throws and pulled down 36 rebounds.  Jeffersontown shot 26.5% from the field including two of eight from beyond the arc.  The Lady Chargers connected on 12 of 20 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored five points off 14 Mercy turnovers.

5-8 Jr. Juliann Miller led Mercy with 20 points.  5-9 Sr. Therese Montano added 10 points.  5-8 Jr. Emily Goetz recorded eight points and eight rebounds.

6-2 Jr. Lenette Holt led Jeffersontown with nine points and seven rebounds.  5-6 Sr. Camila Calderon added eight points and four assists.  5-7 Jr. Aisjah Roan chipped in with seven points and 11 rebounds.

Sacred Heart Academy  (17-13)  vs.  Christian Academy of Louisville  (24-5)  (Girls)  (Semifinal)

This game started on March 4th and CAL held a 42-39 lead with 4:34 remaining in the game when the power went off at Bellarmine University.  The game was resumed on March 5th and CAL earned a 48-42 victory.  CAL raced out to a 23-9 lead in the second quarter but Sacred Heart rallied to cut the deficit to two; 39-37 entering the final quarter.  CAL outscored Sacred Heart 9-5 in the final quarter.

CAL shot 41.9% from the field including five of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Centurions connected on seven of 16 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored nine points off 14 Sacred Heart turnovers.  Sacred Heart shot 30.5% from the field including one of 10 from beyond the arc.  The Valkyries connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 45 rebounds, and scored nine points off 12 CAL turnovers.

6-1 Sr. Antonita Slaughter led CAL with 18 points and nine rebounds.  5-10 sr. Allison Karst added 15 points.  5-9 Fr. China Dow recorded 10 points and nine rebounds.

5-9 Sr. Mary Gordon Stough led Sacred Heart with 15 points and 15 rebounds.  5-4 Jr. Maddie Peabody added 13 points and five rebounds.  5-10 Jr. Morgan Clemons chipped in with six points and 11 rebounds.
