According to the precise relevant data, Sopiste Community spreads
over an area of 22.312 ha. 4 434 ha belong to cultivated field,
298 ha to orchards, 873 ha to vineyards, 102 ha to meadows, 8191
ha to pastures, 7801 ha to forests and 651 ha to infertile land.
This area spreads over 13 communities.
The area is mainly used for planting agricultural products and
cattle grazing. The soil has never been tested by agrochemical
expert, which means that we do not know whether it contains any
harmful and toxic elements. So, the use of mineral and organic
fertilizers is not adequate to the soil structure, the water might
also be contaminated and the quality of the agricultural products
is not known (there might be some harmful substances).
Project goals
The goal of this project is protection of the soil and the
water from the possible contamination with chemical elements
applied by inexpert and uncontrolled use of mineral and organic
fertilizers.
Tasks/needs
1. Education of the citizens for correct use of the fertilizers,
meaning the right type, quantity and way of use. The education has
to be based on relevant organized skilled data with agrochemical
analyses of the soil in Sopiste Community region;
2. Establishment of a center for advancement and planning the
agriculture in the community;
3. Purchase and functioning a Mobile Laboratory for soil control
in order to protect it from contamination.
Expected results and influence of the environment
The realization of this applicable project will have big
influence with repeated importance on:
a) The protection of the soil from unnecessary chemical elements;
b) The protection of the spring and well water from contamination
from the soil;
c) Obtaining healthy food (without chemicals);
d) Sustainable development of the agriculture;
e) Economic and social advantages by getting bigger and optimal
production based on optimal nourishment of the plants.
