The region of the community consists of three physical and geographic micro complexes having different natural conditions for the development of the settlements. The community has about
10000 inhabitants. 26% of them are younger than 15. 63 % of them are between 15-59 years of age. This condition leads to a conclusion that the community has high potential for development, big need of creative use of the time as well as need of recreation activities. Having analyzed the community possibilities and conditions, the LEAP working group suggested and the inhabitants agreed that the priority should be given to the development of the small economy in the region then to the public works problem and to creation of new recreation centers which will contribute to the development.
Luckily, the people's health is still good. The defects that are registered are mostly congenital and are controlled by the home doctor and the appropriate clinician.
But the problem with using the natural resources is obvious and it leaves black ecology spots on the earth surface. The digging of quartz by the Glassworks firm from Skopje in the northwest part of the village Dolno Sonje has left holes with different shapes and they are used as dumping grounds for different types of garbage. This problem exists for about 10 years and makes unhealthy ecology conditions.
General goal
With this project we want to cultivate the area of the abandoned quartz mine near Dolno Sonje and to form a recreation center in the community.
Concrete tasks
The recreation center will spread over an area of 30 000 m2 surrounded by forest region grass and bushes. There will be fencing around the center. Inside there will be children's playgrounds, grounds for football, volleyball, basketball, running tracks, and green fields with benches.
Expected results
The project will contribute to the economic advancement of the community through open possibilities to develop small economy in the central part, raise the tourism, and raise ecology consciousness for protection of the nature, development of sport and recreational spirit in the community and urbanization of the region.
