Kilkenny, the marble county, lies north of Waterford, in the Sunny South East. It is predominatly a low density populated county that has as its main dependancy - agriculture. Kilkenny is best known for many things - from Kilkenny Beer, the ancient sport of hurling, marble, its arts festivles and its ancient monastic settlements to the destinction of having being once the medevial capital of Ireland.

The chief town is Kilkenny City which boosts many medevial buildings of distinction - and the infamous Kilkenny Castle. Throughtout the county there are many round towers, high crosses, castles, churches and Abbeys. There area also several megalithic monuments and ancient wells.

Kilkenny is known as being an artistic county. In Bennetsbridge there are several potters of notarity - Nicholas Mosse amoung them. Kilkenny city has the renowned Kilkenny Design center, which displays and sells works from select Irish designers. The arts festivle is held every August and the comedy festivle in June. And of course we must not forget Sport. Kilkenny hurlers are about the best in Ireland. (Although Cork and Tipperary may argue with that!). The Kilkenny Tourist board have devised 6 routes called "Sli 1 to Sli 6", which take in the best sights of the county.
