Nick is another example of the increasing success of the Everton Youth Academy.

The striker has worked his way through the youth ranks of the club into the first team squad and the early part of his career at Goodison will be remembered for the first goal he scored in Everton's first team against Bolton Wanderers.

His emphatic strike sealed the 3-1 win against the Trotters that took the Blues over 40 points and effectively preserved the club's Barclaycard Premiership status again.

With a fantastic eye for goal, Nick has featured heavily in the reserve team and wonthe FA Premier Reserve League in the 2000-2001 season.

His efforts at that level saw him invited to train with the first team squad at Bellefield. The day of his first team debut did not take long to arrive. He was picked for the Worthington Cup tie with Crystal Palace in September 2001 and went on to make appearances in the Barclaycard Premiership as the season progressed.

He scored 3 goals in 11 games, and certainly rose to prominence under David Moyes, and should be a player to watch in years to come.
