We checked out of the Traders Hotel in Shenyang at about 9:20 today. Frankie said goodbye to everyone! He really tried to convince our guide and the driver to come on the airplane with us. Thankfully, they declined. He did tell them that he would save his money and have his Mama show him how to get to the airport so he could visit when he gets older.
The plane ride was awful. Frankie did very well, though. The only "snag" was when he stood up on his chair and yelled to the attendents (in Chinese) "Hey, when is lunch?" He sucked on a Push Pop on take off and landing, which really helped his ears. He also took a nap so there was some peace for the travelers. It was VERY turbulent. They started the final descent at 3:40 and we weren't on the ground until 4:25 pm.
We were picked up at the airport and brought to the White Swan Hotel!!!!! Yipppeeeee! Being here feels a bit more like home. Americans don't stand out as much. (In Shenyang I actually had a few women come up and touch my face!)
We rejoined our whole big group for dinner and Frankie did GREAT! I was so proud of him! Afterward, we had our bags brought up to our room and got Frankie a cot and began settling in. We are all very happy that Penny and her son, Leland, are right next to us again. We have been great support for each other and it will be nice to finish the trip with them every step of the way.
Frankie was thrilled to talk to his Lao Lao (Nonni) and Lao Ye (Poppa) on the phone after his bath. Unfortunatly, it excited him up soooo much that he wouldn't go to sleep. He can't wait to meet everyone!
Tomorrow we are on our own for the whole day and we are thrilled. Penny, Auntie, the boys and I plan to hit the shops!
