Great Crossing coach Glenn Wilson Jr. started the following lineup: 5-9 Fr. Ava Schureman, 5-7 Jr. Rachel Smith, 6-0 So. Raegan Barrett, 5-1 Sr. Braylee McMath, and 5-7 Jr. Timothi Williams.  Franklin County coach Joey Thacker countered with 5-10 Jr. Patience Laster, 5-5 Jr. Shauvi Kennedy, 6-4 So. Jhaven Meade, 5-2 Jr. Nevaeh Carter, and 5-6 Sr. Brooklynn Miles. 

 

Franklin County took an 18-11 first quarter lead on their way to a 62-52 victory over Great Crossing.  Franklin County shot 52.5% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on 15 of 22 free throws, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 12 Great Crossing turnovers.  Great Crossing shot 35.4% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Warhawks connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 13 Franklin County turnovers.

 

Jhaven Meade led Franklin County with 20 points including four of six free throws, and 10 rebounds.  Brooklynn Miles added 18 points including three three point baskets, two rebounds, and three assists.  Shauvi Kennnedy recorded 11 points including two three point baskets and three rebounds.  Patience Laster chipped in with eight points, four rebounds, and two assists.

 

Timothi Williams led Great Crossing with 15 points including five of seven free throws, two rebounds, four assists, and two steals.  Raegan Barrett added 11 points, nine rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Rachel Smith recorded nine points on three three point baskets and two rebounds.  Ava Schureman chipped in with seven points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

MAHS vs. Clay County (Boys) Class A Championship

 

MAHS coach Vernard Watkins started the following lineup: 6-4 Sr. Dylan Woods, 6-3 Jr. Cameron Miller, 6-4 Sr. Kendal Ducksworth, 6-0 Sr. Avionne Suttle, and 6-1 Sr. Keyonte Young.  Clay County coach Rob Edwards countered with 6-4 Jr. Jeffrey Spivey, 6-2 So. Keaton Arms, 6-5 Jr. Grant Strong, 5-10 Jr. Eli Smith, and 5-11 Sr. Gunnar Silk.

 

MAHS led by 12 points in the first quarter and only trailed by 25-24 at halftime but Clay County pulled away in the second half for a 62-52 victory.  There were three lead changes and one tie in the game.  Clay County shot 44.7% from the field including five of eight from the three point line.  The Bulldogs connected on 15 of 16 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 15 MAHS turnovers.  MAHS shot 42.6% from the field including six of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Lions connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored five points off six Clay County turnovers.

 

Grant Strong led Clay County with 29 points including 10 of 10 free throws, 10 rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Gunnar Silk added 19 points including three three point baskets.  Jeffrey Spivey recorded eight points and four rebounds.

 

6-3 Jr. Geoffrey Shaw led MAPS with 12 points including three three point baskets.  Kendal Ducksworth added nine points, eight rebounds, and three blocked shots. Jackson South Side coach Damann Fuller started the following lineup: 6-2 Sr. Jailen Anderson, 6-0 Jr. Ericko Sain II, 6-2 Sr. Brandon Maclin, 5-6 Jr. Cam’ron Anderson, and 5-8 Jr. Micheal Ward.  Greeneville coach Brad Woolsey countered with 6-3 Jr. Reid Satterfield, 6-1 Jr. Jakobi Gillespie, 6-4 Jr. Terry Grove, 5-9 Sr. Connor Debusk, and 5-11 Sr. Trey Mayes.

 

Connor Debusk nailed a three point shot in the closing seconds to give Greeneville a 47-45 lead and Jackson South Side connected on one of two free throws with 4 seconds remaining on the clock allowing Greeneville to escape with a 47-46 victory.  There was one tie and four lead changes in the game.  Greeneville led 30-15 at halftime but had to survive a furious Jackson South Side rally to earn the victory.  Greeneville shot 32.5% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Greene Devils connected on 15 of 17 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 13 Jackson South Side turnovers.  Jackson South Side shot 46.2% from the field including zero of five from beyond the arc.  The Hawks connected on 10 of 17 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 18 Greeneville turnovers.

 

Reid Satterfield led Greeneville with 19 points including two three point baskets, 11 of 12 free throws, and three rebounds.  Jakobi Gillespie added 17 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Connor Debusk recorded seven points, three assists, and three steals.

Houston defeated Cane Ridge by the score of 62-43.  Houston shot 45.1% from the field including six of 20 from the three point line.  The Mustangs connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 15 Cane Ridge turnovers.  Cane Ridge shot 32.1% from the field including seven of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Ravens connected on two of six free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored seven points off 15 Houston turnovers.

 

Jonathan Lawson led Houston with 16 points including three three point baskets, five rebounds, and six assists.  Jerrell Colbert added 14 points, seven rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.  Antonio Madlock recorded 10 points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals.  Mason Miller chipped in with nine points and eight rebounds.  Zander Yates added eight points including two three point baskets, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.

Madison Southern coach Josh Curtis started the following lineup: 5-11 Jr. Macie Daniels, 5-7 Sr. Lacie Parks, 6-0 Jr. Reece Estep, 5-6 Jr. Morgan Flannery, and 5-7 Sr. Samantha Cornelison.  Madison Central coach Brad Lovely countered with 5-10 Fr. Bailey Hensley, 5-10 Sr. Raelynn Miller, 5-11 Sr. Gretchen Hammitt, 5-4 So. Eve Carter, and 5-5 Sr. Brianna Bierbaum.

 

Madison Central led 32-31 with 2:27 left in the game but Madison Southern closed out the game on a 9-0 run to earn a 40-32 victory and the District Championship.  Madison Southern was 12 of 16 from the free throw line in the final quarter.  There were seven ties and seven lead changes in the game.  Madison Southern shot 32.3% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Eagles connected on 18 of 25 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 13 points off 18 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 26.5% from the field including two of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on four of seven free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 24 Madison Southern turnovers.

 

Morgan Flannery led Madison Southern with 12 points including five of six free throws.  Macie Daniels added 10 points, three rebounds, and two assists.  Samantha Cornelison recorded seven points including five of eight free throws, and six rebounds.  Reece Estep chipped in with four points and six rebounds.  5-4 7^th Grade Hadley French pulled down seven rebounds.

 

Bailey Hensley led Madison Central with 16 points, nine rebounds, and two steals.  5-5 8^th Grade Tiana Long added seven points and two steals.  Eve Carter recorded three points, one rebound, five assists, and six steals.  5-5 8^th Grade Brittany Campbell chipped in with two points, three rebounds, and two assists.

Covington Catholic led 55-51 after three quarters but pulled away in the final quarter to earn an 84-62 victory over Covington Holy Cross.  Covington Catholic shot 58% from the field including eight of 19 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 18 of 26 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and committed five turnovers.  Holy Cross shot 42.3% from the field including eight of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 21 rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers.

 

Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 29 points including three three point baskets, six of six free throws, three rebounds, and three assists.  Mitchell Rylee added 18 points including six of 11 free throws, nine rebounds, two assists, and four blocked shots.  Donovan Stocks recorded 15 points including three three point baskets, eight rebounds, and five assists.  Chandler Starks chipped in with 10 points including six of eight free throws, 11 rebounds, and four assists.

 

Jacob Meyer led Covington Holy Cross with 23 points including three three point baskets, six of seven free throws and three rebounds.  Blake Robinson added 14 points including four three point baskets and six rebounds.  Brandon McClendon recorded 14 points including four of six free throws and three assists.  Jeremiah Hicks chipped in with seven points and five rebounds.

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 28-12 first quarter lead over Lexington Christian Academy on their way to an 80-58 victory.  Lexington Catholic shot 60% from the field including 13 of 19 from the three point line.  The Knights connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 22 points off 11 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 43.4% from the field including four of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 14 points off eight Lexington Catholic turnovers.
