Madison Central Coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. started the following lineup: 6-6 So Trey Skaggs, 6-2 Sr. Braeden Ray, 6-8 So. Malachi Wood, 6-4 Sr. Kole Browne, and 6-4 So. Jaylen Davis.  Model coach John Morgerson countered with 6-3 Sr. Nate Feese, 6-1 Sr. Ethan Bailey, 6-2 Sr. Colton Collier, 5-10 Sr. Jackson Perry, and 5-10 Sr. Bryson Perry. (Model was short handed tonight with only eight players available and Jackson Perry leaving with an injury in the first minute of play).

 

Madison Central raced out to a 48-11 halftime lead on their way to a 69-34 victory over Model.  Madison Central shot 46.6% from the field including four of 17 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 11 of 16 free throws, pulled down 44 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 17 Model turnovers.  Model shot 26.5% from the field including two of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on six of 17 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.

 

Jaylen Davis led Madison Central with 12 points including two three point baskets, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Kole Browne added 11 points and two rebounds.  6-4 Jr. Will Hardin recorded nine points, 10 rebounds, and two steals.  6-2 So. Jayden West chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.  Trey Skaggs added eight points, three assists, and two steals. 

 

Nate Feese led Model with 12 points including six of 11 free throws, seven rebounds, and three assists.  Ethan Bailey added nine points, five rebounds, and two assists.  Bryson Perry recorded seven points, six rebounds, two assists, and three steals.  6-2 Sr. Everett Parker-Noblitt pulled down seven rebounds.

Madison Central trailed 8-7 after the first quarter but 5-5 8^th Grade Brittany Campbell sparked a 28-9 outburst in the second quarter to take a 35-17 lead at halftime on their way to a 57-43 victory over Model.  Madison Central shot 34.9% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Indians connected on 10 of 12 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and committed six turnovers.  Model shot 26.2% from the field including five of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Patriots connected on 16 of 23 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and committed 15 turnovers.

 

5-4 8^th Grade Brittany Campbell led Madison Central with 15 points, six rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Campbell was seven of 10 from the field including one of one from beyond the arc and did not commit any turnovers.  Bailey Hensley added nine points and seven rebounds.  Gretchen Hammitt recorded seven points and two rebounds.  Eve Carter chipped in with six points and two steals.

 

McKenna Tuttle led Model with 14 points including two three point baskets, four of four free throws, five rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Keaton Hall added eight points including five of eight free throws, seven rebounds, and four assists.  Emma Kate Lawson recorded eight points and five rebounds.  Taylor LeCompte added six points and 10 rebounds.

McDonald coach Tony Matisi started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Maddy Howard, 5-8 Sr. Sophia Constantino, 6-0 Sr. Molly Howard, 5-3 Sr. Taylor Tuchek, and 5-5 Jr. Lucia Wolford.  Fort Loramie coach Carla Siegel countered with 6-0 Sr. Dana Rose, 6-0 Sr. Kenzie Hoelscher, 6-0 Sr. Jadyn Puthoff, 5-6 Sr. Caitlyn Gasson, and 5-7 Sr. Corynn Heitkamp.

 

Fort Loramie utilizing their stifling defense raced out to a 17-2 first quarter lead on their way to a 60-26 victory over McDonald.  A touching moment took place after the game as four seniors that were denied their opportunity to play in the state tournament for Fort Loramie last year because of the COVID shut down were allowed to enter the court for pictures and a celebration with their teammates.  Fort Loramie shot 56.4% from the field including four of six from the three point line.  The Redskins connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and 25 points off 25 McDonald turnovers.  McDonald shot 30.6% from the field including zero of seven from beyond the arc.  The Blue Devils connected on four of six free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored nine points off 16 Fort Loramie turnovers. 

 

Dana Rose led Fort Loramie with 13 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  Kenzie Hoelscher added 12 points, five rebounds, and four assists.  Corynn Heitkamp recorded eight points including two three point baskets, three assists, and three steals.

Taylor Strock led Napoleon with 23 points including three three point baskets, eight of 10 free throws, and seven rebounds.  Caely Ressler added 18 points including six of nine free throws, eight rebounds, and seven assists.  Kalli Helberg recorded 16 points, two rebounds, and two steals.  Sophie Chipps chipped in with seven points including four of four free throws, three rebounds, and six assists.

KK Bransford scored all eight of Mount Notre Dame’s points in the second overtime to lead the Cougars to a 57-55 double overtime victory over Newark.  This was Mount Notre Dame’s eight state title and their 72^nd consecutive victory.  There were 12 ties and 10 lead changes in this game.  Mount Notre Dame shot 35.5% from the field including five of 13 from the three point line.  The Cougars connected on eight of 13 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 14 Newark turnovers.  Newark shot 35.2% from the field including nine of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Wildcats connected on eight of 12 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored four points off 10 Mount Notre Dame turnovers.

The turning point in the game came at the 5:57 mark in the final quarter when Summertown’s Katie Burdette fouled out allowing Loretto to pull away for a 49-41 victory.  There were six ties and seven lead changes in the game.  Loretto shot 37.8% from the field including two of 12 from the three point line.  The Lady Mustangs connected on 19 of 26 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 15 Summertown turnovers.  Summertown shot 40% from the field including four of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and scored eight points off six Loretto turnovers.

 

Karly Weathers led Loretto with 18 points including six of eight free throws, five rebounds, and four steals.  Autumn Buttrum added nine points including four of six free throws, four rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  Madelinn Tidwell recorded nine points including four of four free throws and three rebounds.  Kensey Weathers chipped in with eight points, six rebounds, and two steals.

Macon County trailed 33-30 after three quarters but outscored Grainger 21-7 in the final quarter to earn a 51-40 victory and claim their first championship.  There were six ties and five lead changes in this game.  Macon County shot 44.8% from the field including four of 14 from the three point line.  The Tigerettes connected on 21 of 24 free throws including 15 of 18 in the final quarter, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored eight points off nine Grainger turnovers.  Grainger shot 39% from the field including seven of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Grizzlies connected on one of two free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and scored nine points off eight Macon County turnovers.

 

Jalynn Gregory led Macon County with 23 points including 12 of 13 free throws, six rebounds, three assists, and two blocked shots.  Abby Shoulders added 15 points including five of five free throws.  Taylor Ward recorded eight points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Saranda Woodson added three points, eight rebounds, and two steals.

Madison Central outscored Lexington Christian Academy 21-6 in the second quarter on their way to a 68-42 victory.  Madison Central shot 46.9% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Indians connected on six of 14 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 34 points off 23 LCA turnovers.  LCA shot 30.6% from the field including five of 20 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on 15 of 19 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored six points off 10 Madison Central turnovers.

 

This was truly a team effort for Madison Central with several girls having excellent floor games and some strong defensive efforts.  Bailey Hensley had a great offensive effort with 27 points on 13 of 17 from the field and one of three from the free throw line in approximately 20 minutes of playing time. Hensley also pulled down five rebounds and jumped the passing lanes all night recording five steals.  Brianna Bierbaum added 11 points and seven rebounds.  5-5 8^th Grade Eden Carter recorded four points and five rebounds. 

 

Sophia Gabbert led LCA with 11 points including two three point baskets.  Gracie Royalty added 10 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Ella Gabbert recorded nine points on three three point baskets.  Emilie Teall added six points, eight rebounds, and six blocked shots.

Franklin County rallied from a 36-29 deficit after three quarters to outscore Highlands 17-9 in the final quarter to earn a 46-45 victory.  Franklin County shot 36.7% from the field including three of 14 from the three point line.  The Lady Flyers connected on seven of 11 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and committed eight turnovers.  Highlands shot 35.7% from the field including three of 21 from beyond the arc.  The Bluebirds connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and committed 10 turnovers.

 

Patience Laster led Franklin County with 14 points including six of eight free throws, and seven rebounds.  Jhaven Meade added 12 points and four rebounds.  Brooklynn Miles recorded eight points, seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals. 

 

Kelsey Listerman led Highlands with 13 points including five of five free throws, eight rebounds, and two assists.  Emma Mallery added nine points on three three point baskets and three rebounds.  Rory O’Hara recorded seven points including three of four free throws and three rebounds.  Emma Riccobene chipped in with six points and three rebounds.

Brooklynn Miles led Franklin County with 18 points including 11 of 12 free throws, four rebounds, six assists, and five steals.  Jhaven Meade added 12 points and seven rebounds.  Patience Laster recorded eight points and six rebounds.  Nevaeh Carter chipped in with eight points, three rebounds, and five assists.  6-0 8^th Grade Juliana Frazee added eight points and three rebounds.

Brooklynn Miles led Franklin County with 22 points including two three point baskets, two rebounds, eight assists, and three steals.  Patience Laster added 20 points including eight of 11 free throws and 15 rebounds.  Nevaeh Carter recorded five points, six rebounds, four assists, and two steals.
