Lafayette coach Allison Denton started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Olivia Cathers, 5-10 Fr. Savannah Simpson, 6-0 Sr. Anaya Brown, 5-1 Sr. Catherine Jacobs, and 5-5 Jr. Gracyn Grantz. Paul Laurence Dunbar coach Nick Runyon countered with 5-9 So. Amber Brandon, 5-9 Sr. Kenzie Sizemore, 5-11 Sr. Quinn Arnold, 5-8 Sr. Maddy Ridge, and 5-9 Sr. Aziah Campbell.
Lafayette trailed 24-18 in the third quarter but rallied for a 43-41 victory over Paul Laurence Dunbar. The score was tied twice and there were seven lead changes in the game. Lafayette shot 30.2% from the field including two of 14 from the three point line. The Lady generals connected on nine of 16 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 27 points off 30 Dunbar turnovers. Dunbar shot 39.5% from the field including seven of 16 from beyond the arc. The Lady Bulldogs connected on four of nine free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored seven points off 17 Lafayette turnovers.
Savannah Simpson led Lafayette with 12 points, 12 rebounds, and three steals. Gracyn Grantz added 11 points, three rebounds, and three steals. Anaya Brown recorded nine points, seven rebounds, and six steals. 5-2 8th Grade Anna Clay Denton chipped in with nine points including four of four free throws and two assists.
Aziah Campbell led Paul Laurence Dunbar with 13 points including three three point baskets, three assists, and three steals. Amber Brandon added 11 points including three three point baskets and four rebounds. Maddy Ridge recorded 10 points and seven rebounds. Quinn Arnold chipped in with four points, eight rebounds, and two assists.
