I think Tenchi Muyo is the best anime show ever created. Gundam Wing is boring for too long, DBZ's anime style makes my head hurt, and Outlaw Star just doesn't cut it. Tenchi Muyo is about a teenage boy named, Tenchi Masaki, who unwittingly unleashes havoc on the universe.
Tenchi Muyo has many different series. The first was the OVA series, which a second was eventually made. The first OVA is considered the best among many. The third is now in production. Then came the first T.V. series, which we in America know as Tenchi Universe. Then the second T.V. series Tenchi in Tokyo. There was also a spin-off called Pretty Sammy with Sasami as the main character, kind of a Sailor Moon clone, but, a little different. What's strange about all the series is that the same characters appear, but sometimes it seems as if they've never seen eachother and meet in a different way. They have also put out three movies. The most recently released movie was Tenchi Forever, which was released in the U.S. in 2000. You will also see Tenchi in Love 1 and 2.
The setting takes place in Kurashiki, Japan, where Tenchi and his grandfather live. It all starts when he gets in a fight with grandpa about going into the mysterious cave where Ryoko sleeps. He fights his grandpa and gets crushed, but some how the key ends up in his mouth! So, of course, he heads off to the cave. When Ryoko is unleashed, Ayeka is awaken from her sleep too. This Jurian princess has been trying to stop Ryoko, the Space Pirate Demon for hundreds of thousands of years. It's amazing how all the girls pop up at Tenchi's, but eventually they do. There are all kinds of exciting adventures in the series - and every character has their own unique personality.

This is the latest schedule change. There are rumors that next schedule change Tenchi Muyo will be taken off the air :( !!! The next schedule change is unkown, but most people are wanting shows like "Big O" off the air and running Tenchi Muyo's OAV's instead of taking it off the air. They've run Tenchi for less than 1 year, so i assume, like Gundam, it will be put on the air again for re-runs of Tenchi Muyo, Tenchi in Tokyo, and Tenchi Universe. |
