Atsitsa Beach is located on the northwest side of the island. It is set in the Bay of Agios Petros and it is a sandy beach with a number of pine trees around it (but still it can be difficult to find shade here). There are not many facilities and there are no umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. There is something of a tavern in the neighbourhood (on the beach, but not operational yet in May 2018 and opening later in the season), but perhaps it is still advisable to bring water if you go to this beach.
The distance to the capital Skyros Chora is about 17 kilometers and the connection with Atsitsa by road (Chora - Aspous - Agios Fokas - Atsitsa) is good.
There is also an alternative route that runs from Skyros Chora through the interior of the island to Atsitsa. That road is largely unpaved (but wide and in 2018 actually pretty good). It starts in Chora at the exit that says "Agios Dimitrios" (the monastery) and leads you through the beautiful pine forest of Skyros to the other side of the island.
