Later on that day, Sarah came home. "So, what did she say?" I asked as she walked through the door.
"Well she can go tonight, but other than that, she and Numair have plans."
"Good, we told Kel it was tonight. She couldn't come any other time." Sara came to sit by Sarah. "Now where are we going to go?"
"Well-"
Someone was knocking at the door. Sara got up to answer it. It turned out that it was Kel. "Something wrong?"
"Well sort of," Kel came into view as Sara closed the door. "Lord Wyldon would like one of you to come and give him the details before he lets me go."
"Hmm, I always wanted to yell at him... I'll go." Sara said enthusiastically.
"I had better go with you then. We can't have you pissing him off too much." I got up as well. "Anyone else?"
"No, I've met him before, and trust me, I can distance myself from having to do that again." Sarah laughed from her chair.
"Same here. I think that I'll start to get ready for tonight..." Kelly wandered off towards the bathroom.
"Yeah, for ANDY!!!" Sara shouted as we walked out the door.
Kel lead us around the hallways until we reached some doors. The man waiting outside saw us and presumably knew what we were there for, because he went inside.
"He's announcing you."
"You? What you aren't coming in?" Sara asked.
"No, he said he wanted to talk to you."
A second later that announcer came out and told us to go in.
"Have a seat," Wyldon called as the door shut behind us. "It is my understanding that you would like Keladry to accompany you to the city, is this true?"
"Yes it is, your grace." I knew that there was something that I should say, seeing as he is a Duke and all. I guess I must have made the right choice, because he kept on talking.
"You are one of the apprentices to Lindhall are you not?" This question was directed towards Sara.
"Yes I am."
"I do not know who you are." He paused, I took that as my cue.
"I am a translator, well that's the closest thing you could compare me to."
"What do you translate?" I could see that Sara was getting bored with these stupid questions. I hope he keeps talking to me... I don't know what Sara will say.
"It's a dead language here... Spanish."
"Hmm, Interesting. Who else shall be going." He was starting to act like my dad, it was like being at home, all over again trying to go out, and not being able too.
"Well of course, the two of us and Kel, along with Sarah Starr, she is Numair's apprentice, Kelly the other one of Lindhall's apprentices, and Daine."
"Hmm..." He seemed to be thinking of something. "Fine then, I give Keladry permission to go, as long as she's back by her curfew."
We got up to leave. As Sara reached the door, she muttered "okay dad".
I think he must have heard, because he just started to cough.
"Nice one."
"What?"
"Yeah I think that he must really like us now!"
"What did something go wrong?" Kel looked at us.
"No, you can come." I answered.
"Is there something that you need from your room or do you want to come and get ready with us?"
"Yeah there is one thing..." We accompanied Kel to her room and stayed as she came out with a fancy looking hair decoration. "I would die if anyone of them saw me with this..."
Sara held out her hand and Kel put it there. We passed a few of the other pages, but stayed relatively out of trouble. Once we got back we helped weave Kel's hair into the decoration. It was just barely long enough. We all finished getting ready and then we started in on Kel.
"Hmm, what color should we put on her?" Sara looked through her extensive makeup collection.
"No, you can't. Remember the time you made me look like a parrot?" Kelly accused.
"No, not at all."
We all pitched in and when we were done, Kel looked great. "Wow, come and look in the mirror."
She looked shocked and awed all in one. "I actually look like a girl."
"Yeah, and if we happen to run into one of the pages, they wouldn't know it was you..." We all stood behind her in the mirror. We were ready to go.
Just then someone came knocking on the door. It was Daine so we set out on our way.
"I like your hair Kel." Daine complimented as we walked out of the palace gates.
"Thanks" She blushed. I don't think she's been made up like this in awhile.
We went through shops and then went into a café for a drink. "I've got an idea..." Sara smiled devilishly. "I think we should go start hitting on the proper people. Hint hint, those cute ones that are looking at us."
"Don't look," Sarah instructed. "I think that they are coming over."
Sure enough they were. "Hi," The first one called.
"Well hello." Kelly said as a really cute guy I noticed was Andy came over to her.
"Hi, Kelly. Remember me?"
"Hmm, let me think, the Madrigal right." Kelly blushed.
"Yeah." He looked as if she had just made her day.
The one by me started talking again. "I'm Dan."
"Hi Dan, I'm Leah."
I looked over and Kel was in a conversation with a younger one. Sara was talking to Daine and Sarah and making hand gestures.
They got up and told us they were going to be in Bungalows. A bookstore.
"bye," leaving me with Dan, Kel with her guy, and Kelly blissfully talking to Andy.
Kel was starting to look uncomfortable so I broke this little testosterone group up. "Sorry guys, but some of us have a curfew and have to go home now... Come on Kel, let's go. Bye Kelly."
She sat there and grinned. "Byyye."
Dan and Kel's guy who she told me was named Rich, sat kinda stunned as we walked away.
We entered Bungalows, around the corner and found Sarah, Sara, and Daine.
"We saw most of it. Leah, you looked bored out of your mind. But you Kel... Come on tell us, what did you think?" Sara prodded her for answers.
"Well..."
"She can tell us on the way back... We've got to get her back before 'dad' gets upset and doesn't let her leave her room for the next two weeks." I got them all up and we started our way back.
We passed the café where Kelly was sitting absorbed in Andy.
We took Kel back to our apartment. "So now, tell us what did you think?" Sara asked as we dismantled Kel's hairpiece and helped her get her make-up off.
"Well, he was kinda cute, and nice, but he just seemed sort of not there. Like someone put him up to it and he didn't want to. I don't know."
"Yeah, but it was fun while it lasted, was it not?" Sarah joked.
"Yeah, I haven't done something like that before."
"Well we'll just have to do that again, now won't we... But now, you have to get back before you get in trouble." I put her hairpiece in a bag and gave it to her. This seemed to make her feel better as she walked out the door.
"Bye."
"She's a nice girl." Daine commented.
We all started talking when there was a heavy knock at the door. Sarah went and answered it.
"Uhh, Leah come here."
"Yes," I said coming to the door. A guard dressed in the King's Own Outfit was waiting.
"I need you to come with me."
