| "Leah," Jon was talking to me in his office the next day. "I would like you to go to the City of the Gods and show the priests some of the text you just translated." "Sure," I replied knowing that was basically an order. "Also, I've just been informed that there has been some more found for you to translate. Since you don't know your way there you will be provided an escort. Also you may take one of you friends with you." He added the last part with a smile. "Who's my escort?" I asked silently hoping that it was one of the members of the King's Own that had been eating dinner with us. "I don't believe you've met Joseph. He's been away since you have been here." "Is that Lisa's brother?" I asked cutting in. "Yes, it is why?" He looked puzzled as to how I knew that. "Oh, I'm a friend of Lisa's. I'm sure we'll get along fine." We talked some more about the text I had translated that week, and right as I was gathering up my papers to leave, there was a knock at the door. I wasn't paying attention to who was at the door, but then I heard Jon say, "Hello, Joseph." So, I turned around to see what my escort looked like and was surprised to see him look eerily like Joey from N Sync. Sara's going to freak I thought to myself. "This is Leah, one of the girls you'll be escorting." We were introduced and then we didn't get much father because the dinner bell interrupted us. "So Joey," I began as we were walking out of the door. "Are you going to eat dinner with your sister as you promised?" "I might," he said jokingly. "Why?" "Because, that's where I'm headed right now." "Well then, my plan's have changed." As we walked into the dining room, I saw that Luianne and Lisa were there. They both came running over to talk to Joey the minute he came into view. "Remind me again, WHY? I am here?" Joey said jokingly when Lisa came into view. "Because you've been avoiding me the whole time you were here," Lisa began as she dragged him away. Just then I saw Sarah, Sara, and Kelly walk into the dinning room. I walked quickly over to Sara and told her exactly who Joey looked like. "What? He does!?! Where is he?" She said looking around. Sarah spotted him first and let out a high pitched "oooh!" "Get this I get to take somebody on the trip to the City of the Gods with me... and I think I'm going to take you, Sara." "Why," She looked puzzled. "Well, do you know who my escort is?..." "Escort, ha!" Sarah added laughing. "Who,?" "It's Joey. At about that same time, Sara had just seen him and given out an 'oooh' like Sarah's. "I'm going with you. I don't know how, I don't know where, but I AM going with you." At dinner Sara and Sarah were down at their end laughing about some private joke and poking each other when Joey said, "Are they always like that?" He said it sarcastically, but Sara instantly shut up. While Sarah kept on laughing and eventually Sara had a devilish grin on her face, "Your lucky we're usually WORSE!" And with that they were both laughing again. After dinner Sara and I began packing for our trip. "I didn't know I was going to have to leave tomorrow!" Sara called from the other room. "I had a time talking Lindhall into letting me go." "So do you think I should bring both of my blue dresses?" Sara asked walking into the room. "Hun' we're going to be riding to the City of the Gods. You knew that right?... The only time you might need a dress is at the temple." "Oh, well that's a lot easier to pack for. I'd like to break out my good 'old wide legs for a change." We talked some more and then I finally confronted her about seeing Lindhall and her down by the lake. "Oh, that. We were trying to see the water sprite that supposedly live in it. He thought since I had so much magic it might come up to me. What?... did you think Lindhall and I? No, he's not my type." She grinned devilishly, "Buuut JOEY IS!" And with that we were done packing. Later that night I went to Jon and informed him that both Sara and I were ready to start on our trip to the City of the Gods the next morning. "So are we ready yet ladies?" Joey fake bowed and threw up his arms exageratedly. "Mount you horses." And with that we started off. Soon enough, we were all talking about stuff as if we were old friends. I also noticed a little slight flirting between Sara and Joey. I still wasn't sure about that Lindhall thing though. It took us only two days to get to the City of the Gods, mostly due to our good horses. I really should buy one of my own. I made a mental note to remember that. We got there at about just about dinner time. We were greeted by shaven headed Mitrian priests, who were obviously excited to see us and or the translations. "Hold on, hold on. The dear girl probably wants to eat and rest. Let her be." A short priest of obvious importance stepped out of the crowd and welcomed us forward. "I'll have someone get the horses, and Chris here," a teenager in an initiates robe stepped forward. "Will show you to your rooms. Don't mind the bags dear," Sara was picking her's off the horse, "Someone will get them." And with that Buddha, as I was calling the initiate because of his belly, no hair, and the robe, showed us to our rooms. Upon opening the door, we saw that instead of having separate rooms, we were sharing an apartment of sorts. It had a main room, with a fireplace, a table with chairs, and a couch. Cozy, is how I would describe it. Two doors lead off on either side, to what I assumed to be bedrooms. Joey was lead off into one of them on one side, and Buddha showed Sara and me into the two on the other side. Somehow our bags had gotten there before us and Buddha told us that we could bathe and change before dinner if we wanted. We both instantly took our baths and by the time we were done there was food waiting for us in the main room. Joey was also clean and gave us a cheery hello as we walked in. "Hello to you too," Sara replied. "I guess your bum's not killing you. You're too perky." "Nope, I've ridden for years and years. Your... bum gets used to it." "It certainly does," Sara whispered as she walked by. "And your hearing really sharpens." Joey added from across the table. Sara turned slightly pink and then sat down and added with a smile, "Yeah, it must." After dinner, I was feeling wide awake and agreed to go over some of the translations and give them the alphabet and a few basic rules I had remembered. After many hours of explaining and reading, I finally got to bed as the sun was rising. When I woke up I saw it to be about mid-morning. Knowing how little time I had with the priests, I jumped out of bed, even though my body protested and left to go wash and change in the bathroom Sara and I were sharing. When I got back to my room, I saw it being cleaned by a blond maid. Upon further inspection I saw it was Erin. Erin? "Erin?" I was completely confused. "Yes,?" She called. When she looked up at me it took her a moment, but then she screamed, "Leah!!!" All of a sudden Sara came running into the room. "What's wrong?" "Sara," Erin called dully confused, "Sara Dre-" "Erin !?!," Sara said butting in. Soon we were talking up a storm trying to figure out how Erin was here.
