I sat there in that box. I just sat. I had run out of tears. I stood up to see where the ceiling was. 'Ha see.' I thought to myself. It was so dark in here. I slowly got to my feet. A charley horse instantly jumped into my right leg. I shook it off painfully as I walked around the box. "God, I wish I was as tall as Sara." I said thinking aloud. She was the tallest of us all at 5'9". Here I am at 5'5" unable to reach the ceiling. 'If I wasn't out of tears I'd be crying right now.' I thought. "No, don't do this to yourself Leah, you're going to get out of here!" I started pacing along the walls. They weren't dirt like the floor, but I couldn't tell what they were. All of a sudden the lights came on. Well, you couldn't call them lights the walls just started glowing VERY brightly. My eyes were not used to light, even a little. Pain seared through my brain. I screamed. I was blinded. I couldn't see. I heard some clacking like the wall was opening. I tried to stand up, but I fell down with pain. I had tried to open my eyes too see what was happening. I just laid there on the ground with my hands over my eyes, rocking back and forth. What good, that did I don't know. I still couldn't see. I heard a man's laugh and turned my head towards it. "Good, you're up." the man's voice sounded so familiar. I couldn't put my finger on it though. "Yes yes yes ... ha ha ha ... yes yes yes," a second voice called. "Shut up you stupid idiot!" the first voice called. "He he... sorry." called a second voice. "Take her out of here." As the first man said that I found myself being lifted and then carried to a stretcher or something. I pretended to fall asleep or pass out I don't know which. They seemed to believe me because I was laid down on a table in another room. "She'll be fine in here. She won't be able to see anyway." I heard footsteps leave and a door shut. Oh if only I could see. God if I could see I could get out of here. Slowly, ever so slowly the world around me came into focus. 'Wow,' I thought would be blind like Sandry for awhile. When I could see well enough I found myself lying on a table. It was a small stone room I noted, bigger than the hole I was in, but still small. The only things in it were me, 2 tapestries, a chair, and the table I was laying on. The was an eerie glow coming off the walls, but no window. I couldn't see a door though. 'I heard them leave through one, so where is it?' I thought. I looked behind a tapestry only to find a stone wall. The other one was more promising. I saw an outline of a door among the stones. I pressed my ear against it an strained to hear anything. I did there were some muffled voices coming through faintly. I pressed my ear into the wall and tried harder to hear. "I 'on't 'ike it. 'ot at all." A first voice said with a very heavy accent of a northeastern. "They say she's a 'ighty good 'age, she is." "You scare to easily Maron." a second voice called. "Shut up Chris. You 'on't know 'othing." Maron scoffed. "I do too, the Boss said he has that room so protected, she couldn't get out if she was Master Numair herself. You should know that." Chris said with an air of authority. I stopped listening, because I was wrapped up in thought. This was bad. Master Numair himself couldn't get out of here, much less me. This is not good. Definitely not good. How the hell was I supposed to get out of here? Damn! Okay, don't swear. Just because you get a little pissed you're not supposed to cuss. Oh, who cares?!? F#@%! That's better. Actually now I feel a lot better. Especially since the two men that were watching me seemed to be scared of me or something. I moved back to the door trying to hear just a bit more. "Eh, Chris..." "What?" "It's 'etting 'ate. I'm going to take 'yself a 'ittle 'ap, here 'ow, so you's gotta-" "Are you crazy?" Chris called. "What do you think I'll let Synthia blame me when he sees you sleeping?!!" "He's right you know," the first familiar voice was back... Synthia I assumed. "Leave now you insolent fools! I don't trust you with her," he paused and laughed. "and besides, I don't think you'll want to hear her scream." I shuddered. I don't think I want to know what he means. I heard the door slam, so I assumed Maron and Chris had left. The door knob on the door I had my ear to, or rather the piece of stone that was moving, crept along very slowly. Another door outside burst open. (I heard it slam and hit the wall.) "You...!" Synthia called. "Unice sic' them!" I guess the second voice was Unice because I heard a 'he he' before I heard some fighting. "Where is she?" I heard a familiar voice ask hushly. "If you don't tell us, we'll have to something drastic," came Sarah's voice. I knew her's, I would know her voice anywhere at this point. The man with Sarah snorted. "We'll do something drastic if they tell us where she is or not." It was Numair! Yes! Maybe he could get me out of this room... "Where is she, Synthia?" he demanded. "I don't know what you're talking about," said my jailer innocently. I heard Numair swear and a loud crashing noise. Then I heard Sarah's hysterical evil laughter. I was pretty sure Numair had just knocked the guy one because the only other time I have ever heard Sarah laugh that way was when we were watching the X-Files and Mulder knocks some jackass (who deserves it) around. That also brought me to the conclusion that my captors were jackasses and deserve whatever Numair and Sarah did to them. I grinned an evil grin and I took that opportunity to start yelling. Loudly. "Ha, ha, take that," I heard Sarah screamed gleefully. I almost felt sorry for my captors, almost . "Leah if you can hear me back away from the door." It was Numair. I did as I was told and in a minute or so the wall had a huge hole in it. "Can't be descrete can you Numair?" I heard Sarah joke. "It's always blow a hole in the wall or turn somebody into a tree." After the dust settled, I took a look at my surroundings. I looked around nervously. We were in a small stone shack and Sarah had two men captive. Actually, they were floating above her, struggling, and she looked like she was concentrating hard but was having the time of her life doing it. I took a closer look at the men and figured out why. It was Mr. Moss and Unice! ¡! ¡! Mr. Moss was Kelly and the Sara(h)'s Biology teacher. Sarah particularly hated him. She's a Vegan and Sarah hated him with a vengeance because she refused to do the dissections, but when she told Mr. Moss that she wouldn't do the dissections, he didn't exactly enjoy her political views, or stubbornness. To say the very least. I'm sure Sarah's fantasized about this for 9th months straight during 8th grade. Sara too in fact. I though gleefully. He had just "misplaced" some of her papers and given her zero's on them. No wonder the Stormwings liked Mr. Moss, I mean Synthia . (<-- reference to Wild Magic. Mr. Moss is the Synthia in Wild Magic, got away by Stormwings... Numair/Hawk?... ring a bell?) God, a guy named Synthia with a helper named Unice. Wait Unice looked familiar... tall... bony... ugly... was that a, no a uni-brow, that only describes one person I try to forget... MR. MUNIZ! ¡! ¡! ¡! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, I desperately wanted to forget my horrible 9th grade Geometry Class! Numair came over and helped me out of the rubble. Sara and Kelly came running in through the door with Cleon and a few other squires following them. Through the open door, the sun poured in, my eyes burned with a new pain. Damn, blinded.. again! "God, my day sucks!" I whined aloud. "Come here," a man's voice, Cleon's, I guessed, came over and picked me up. "It doesn't look to stable in here." "Sara, you really don't need to have those vines so tight." I heard Lindhall call with a hint of, 'but you don't have to loosen them' in his voice. "Yes, I do, we don't want them being in any way able to move. ("Or have kids," Kelly called from somewhere.) We don't know know what they're packin'. I just assumed that they should be barely able to breathe." She said matter-o-factly. God I wished I could have seen Mr. Moss and Mr. Muniz hanging in mid air covered in constrictive vines. I had to giggle at that, which made me feel better. As we walked outside, a pain seared through my brain. I swore and 'felt' eyes looking at me. I got a weird feeling people were staring at me. Just then, Numair and an aiutorage of people came the shack. "You stupid bird, let me down!" Synthia called. "Numair!" a voice called. "Leave him alone." It was Allanna scolding Numair yet again. "What scared this birdie will peck me?" "That's it, let me at 'im," "Turn him into a tree! Turn him into a tree! Do it now! Turn him into a tree! Do it!" Sarah called possessed. "We we all know you want to Do it!!!!" She called egging him on. Cloen whispered to me Numair got a look in his eyes as if was actually considering it. "Numair...! NO," Allanna called. "Please?" Allanna must have glared at him. "Well, can I at least put him in a total body bind???" "If you must...," "Well, I personally think he'd make some nice firewood," Sara added. I heard Sarah whispering a nice little chant "Tree, do it, do it now. Turn him into a tree. Do it. Now, you know you want to..." She kept repeating it until Sara or someone clasped a hand over her mouth. "Come on, let's get you to the palace." Cleon helped me onto a horse. "Do you think you can ride? I could see if I could find a carriage." "No, that's alright. I'm fine, just a little unsteady." "Well, I can fix that." Cleon jumped up behind me and we rode off. We got back to the palace, but by then I was so tired, I asked to be escorted to my room immediately. Timon helped me there, Cleon unfortunately had to be somewhere else. Erin was ready and waiting for me though. She got me a bath running and after laid me out some clothes. After I was cleaned and changed, I fell into a restless sleep. When I awoke, around 6:00 p.m. or so I was told, I freshened up, this time with Sara's help and was lead to a room to see people I didn't know anything about. "I really thought you'd have slept longer." Sara said as we walked along. "Watch out there's a step... now." "Wait!" Sarah said loudly running down the hall. She came up to me and put some sort of glasses on my face. "No offense, but you look horrible 'hun. I thought this would make you look... well less like a heroin addict." Sara started laughing. "No I'm not laughing at you, It's just-" she giggled some more, waiting to indulge me in her joke. "Sorry, I'm just imagining John Lennon giving them a speech, because, 'All we are saying is give peace a chance.'" Sarah and Sara broke into a startling off key version of the Plastic Ono Band's song. "Why?" "Well, didn't you notice that the light wasn't so severe?" Sara asked me. "What she's saying is I put my rose colored glasses on you." "Oh okay, well why didn't you say that?" "Never mind," Sarah patted me on the head. "It's not your fault you were dropped on the head as a child." "Ahh you're here." It was Timon. "Come right in." "This is where we part. We'll be in later." Sarah informed me as she and Sara left. I walked in and was lead over by someone to a chair. "Here's your chair." It was Jon. After working with him I could tell his voice anywhere. "There you go. Now can you tell us everything that you remember..." I did and after I was finished, I was met with silence. I waited and then all of a sudden, it seemed as though everyone was talking at once. I couldn't understand a word of it. God, there had to be at least 50 people in here. After 10 minutes, I started to get a headache. As I covered up one of my yawns I was tapped on the shoulder. "His majesty said you were no longer needed and you may be escorted to your chambers." It was someone I did not know. I did and thankfully left the noisy, arguing room into the tranquil peace of the hall. When I got back, Erin and Kelly greeted me. "So how are you doing?" Kelly inquired. "Oh, I'm fine, just tired." I yawned and felt someone helping me up out of the chair I had fallen into. "I know, you've had such a long day. I would think you'd be tired." Kelly helped me over into our room and into bed. "God, I feel so useless." I whined. I yawned again and the last thing I remember was listening to Kelly telling me about how I get better and all of the things I could do then.
