Marge purchases a Chanel suit for $90 dollars at a discount fashion store. Without any place special to wear it, she runs errands around town in it. She meets a wealthy ex-classmate, Evelyn, who invites Marge to her country club. Marge's visit to the club is a success and she is invited back. Even Homer is invited to play golf with Mr. Burns. Homer discovers that Smithers, Burns's caddy, cheats for his boss. Burns gives Homer his word that he will support Marge's membership if Homer keeps the secret. Marge accidentally ruins her suit and buys another one for the upcoming membership initiation. On the evening of her initiation into the club, she realizes that her desire to fit in has changed her personality and that she was happier being her old self. She decides she'd rather go back to the way things were than continue to pursue lofty social ambitions. |
