Bart goes to the doctor for an eye exam and finds out that not only does he need glasses, he needs salve for his scalp and orthopedic shoes for his feet. He leaves the doctors office looking like a nerd. Meanwhile, at the plant, Mr. Burns hires a female employee, Mindy. Homer is instantly smitten with her. Homer and Mindy find they share many interests: eating donuts, drinking beer, watching television, and taking a nap before lunch. When the telephone booth he is using crashes to the sidewalk, Homer loses consciousness and meets his guardian angel, who shows Homer what life would be like had he married Mindy instead of Marge. Later, Burns assigns Homer and Mindy to represent the power plant at the National Energy Convention in Capital City. In the meantime, after two weeks of wearing his new glasses, salve, and shoes, Bart finally tells the school bullies who have been beating him up that he is no longer a nerd. He gets beat up anyway. Despite his best intentions, Homer enjoys his time with Mindy. They order room service together, trade insults with a passerby at the convention, them win a romantic dinner for two at a Chinese restaurant. After dinner they return to Homer's room. However, instead of giving in to temptation, Homer invites Marge to stay with him at the hotel. |
