JULY 16th, 2008

Hello again! I hope all is well back in the USA! Here in China, today has been the day we will call, "Miss Fussy Pants Day!" LOL! Last night Sadena decided she would show her true personality! She is a typical 17-month-old wanting to do everything by herself. She walks like Frankenstein and this room has many sharp corners. Well sure enough, last night she bumped her forehead and now has a bruise! Oh well, it was bound to happen!

Fussy girl!

We got up this morning and headed down for breakfast. Sadena did not eat as well as the previous day. After breakfast we headed to the Terracotta Warriors Museum. Here is a little history:

The Terracotta Warriors and Horses are the most significant archaeological excavations of the 20th century. Work is ongoing at this site, which is around 1.5 kilometers east of Emperor Qin Shi Huang's Mausoleum, Lintong County, Shaanxi Province. It is a sight not to be missed by any visitor to China.

Angie and the Warriors

Upon ascending the throne at the age of 13 (in 246 BC), Qin Shi Huang, later the first Emperor of all China, had begun to work for his mausoleum. It took 11 years to finish. It is speculated that many buried treasures and sacrificial objects had accompanied the emperor in his afterlife. A group of peasants uncovered some pottery while digging for a well nearby the royal tomb in 1974. It caught the attention of archaeologists immediately. They came to Xi'an in droves to study and to extend the digs. They had established beyond doubt that these artifacts were associated with the Qin Dynasty (211-206 BC).

Amazing

This was pretty amazing to see and Sadena slept through most of it in her stroller...

Mike and Sadena

Afterwards, we went to a nice restaurant for lunch and had sweet and sour pork, pepper steak with rice, noodles and soup. All was delicious!

We then returned to the hotel...

Check out the men on the bikes!
Imagine hauling like that!

Michelle, our guide, had to gather some of our papers and she stopped by the room this afternoon to deliver our final adoption decrees and the information about Sadena's abandonment. All we need now is Sadena's visa which will be ready on Friday and then we can head to the White Swan in Guangzhou! Yeah!

We hung out with fussy pants in the room and had McDonald's for dinner... she loves the fries!

I love my feet!

A few prayer requests please... please pray for Sadena as I do not think she is feeling well. I gave her some Motrin this evening. I am not sure if she is possibly teething or if she is just adjusting to all the changes going on but she has been extremely fussy today. Also pray for Mike and I as she now pretty much only wants me. She will let Mike hold her occasionally and let him feed her. She will sometimes give him her cute smiles when he tries to play with her but often she cries. It hurts me to know how much he loves her and yet she does not want that right now. To see her run to me lights my heart, but I want the same for Mike. We know that her whole life she has been surrounded by women caretakers and that it will just take time, but please keep that in your prayers as I know it is hard for Mike as it is hard for me to see.

Bath time!

Tomorrow is a free day for us. Our only plans are to meet our guide at 5:00pm to go out for Peking Duck dinner. It is 9:00pm here and Mike is asleep on the floor! No different than the hard beds, and Sadena is playing with her blow up ball by my feet. She pretty much will not let me out of her sight. I am hoping she will be ready for bed soon as I am.
