Eastern Kentucky University captured a hard fought 91-84 victory over Eastern Illinois University.  The score was tied four times and there were seven lead changes in the game.  Eastern Kentucky University shot 50% from the field including eight of 17 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 23 of 33 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 16 Eastern Illinois University turnovers.  Eastern Illinois University shot 45.6% from the field including 10 of 28 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 12 of 16 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 14 Eastern Kentucky University turnovers.

Eastern Kentucky University fueled by Lachlan Anderson’s barrage of six three point baskets and 20 points led the Colonels to a 70-57 victory over Southeast Missouri and an 8-2 OVC slate for their best OVC start in 41 years.  The score was tied five times and there were four lead changes but Eastern Kentucky pulled away late for the victory.

 

Eastern Kentucky University shot 38.7% from the field including 10 of 32 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 12 of 17 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 23 points off 18 SEMO turnovers.  Southeast Missouri shot 36.5% from the field including five of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Redhawks connected on 14 of 21 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

6-9 Sr. Lachlan Anderson led Eastern Kentucky University with 20 points including six three point baskets.  Jomaru Brown added 16 points, five rebounds, five assists, and five steals.  Ty Taylor recorded 13 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Tre King chipped in with nine points and five rebounds.  Michael Moreno pulled down eight rebounds.

 

Sage Tolbert led Southeast Missouri with 19 points, 17 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Jordan Love added 12 points including five of six free throws.  6-5 So. Nygal Russell recorded 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

Jacksonville State University coach Ray Harper started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Kayne Henry, 6-5 Jr. Derrick Cook, 6-10 Jr. Martin Roub, 6-1 Sr. Ty Hudson, and 6-5 Jr. Elias Harden.  Eastern Kentucky University coach AW Hamilton countered with 6-7 Fr. Michael Moreno, 6-3 Sr. Ty Taylor, 6-8 So. Tre King, 6-2 Jr. JacQuess Hobbs, and 6-3 So. Jomaru Brown.

 

Jacksonville State University led 44-31 at halftime but had to survive a frantic rally by Eastern Kentucky University to finally pull away late for an 8-71 victory. The score was tied six times and there were two lead changes.  Jacksonville State shot 47.5% from the field including nine of 20 from the three point line.  The Gamecocks connected on 15 of 18 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and scored six points off four Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 40.3% from the field including eight of 32 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on five of nine free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 16 Jacksonville State turnovers.

 

6-8 Sr. Jacara Cross led Jacksonville State with 20 points including six of eight free throws and seven rebounds.  6-4 So. De’Torrion Ware added 14 points including two three point baskets, and four of four free throws.  Kayne Henry recorded 14 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.  Derrick Cook added 13 points, right rebounds, and six assists.  Elias Harden chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, and four assists.

 

Jomaru Brown led Eastern Kentucky with 18 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Ty Taylor added 10 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.  6-9 Sr. Lachlan Anderson recorded nine points on three three point baskets.  Michael Moreno chipped in with eight points including two three point baskets and seven rebounds.  JacQuess Hobbs added eight points, three rebounds, three assists, and four steals.  6-8 Jr. Darius Hicks recorded eight points, four rebounds, and three blocked shots.
