Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-5 Fr. Chandler Starks, 6-3 Sr.Hunter Sommerkamp, 6-5 Sr.Neil Green, 6-0 Sr. Grant Disken, and 6-3 Jr. Donovan Stocks.  Male coach Tim Haworth countered with 6-5 Sr. Howard Fleming, 6-1 Sr. Jake Evans,6-6 Fr. Kaleb Glenn, 6-0 Sr. Tyren Moore, and 6-0 Jr. Cameron Pope.

 

Male defeated Covington Catholic by the score of 79-63.  Male shot 54.8% from the field including 10 of 17 from the three point line.  They connected on 23 of 28 free throws, pulled down 20 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers.  Covington Catholic shot 51% from the field including six of 11 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on seven of 17 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and committed 15 turnovers.

 

Tyren Moore led Male with 28 points including four three point baskets, six of eight free throws, and four rebounds.  Howard Fleming added 16 points including two three point baskets, six of nine free throws, two rebounds, and three steals.  6-5 Sr. Noah Courtney recorded 13 points including nine of nine free throws and five rebounds.

 

Neil Green led Covington Catholic with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  Grant Disken added 14 points including two three point baskets and four rebounds.  Donovan Stocks recorded 12 points, five assists, and two steals.  5-9 Jr. Reece Murphy chipped in with nine points on three three point baskets and two rebounds.  Chandler Starks recorded seven points and seven rebounds.

South Oldham raced out to a 23-12 first quarter lead on their way to a 79-62 victory.  South Oldham shot 53.7% from the field including 13 of 28 from the three point line.  The Dragons connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 17 Lafayette turnovers.  Lafayette shot 48.9% from the field including four of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Generals connected on 12 of 19 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored nine points off seven South Oldham turnovers.

 

Luke Morrison led South Oldham with 27 points including five three point baskets.  Seth Johnson added 24 points including four three point baskets, four of five free throws, five rebounds, and two assists.  6-0 Sr. Nick Cranfill recorded 10 points including two three point baskets. 

 

Ray Surratt led Lafayette with 31 points, eight rebounds, two assists, and two blocked shots.  Surratt was 11 of 13 from the field and nine of nine from the free throw line.  Campbell DeYoung added 19 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.

Henry Clay defeated John Hardin 66-59 in a victory that was widely considered to be an upset as John Hardin had been ranked number one in the state in some polls.  The score was tied seven times and there were several lead changes in the game.  Henry Clay shot 51% from the field including six of 16 from the three point line.  The Blue Devils connected on 10 of 11 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 14 points off 10 John Hardin turnovers.  John Hardin shot 46.5% from the field including two of 12 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 17 of 24 from the three point line, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 10 Henry Clay turnovers.

 

Marques Warrick led Henry Clay with 33 points including four of five free throws, five rebounds, and three assists.  Marquis Mackey added 21 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.  Sebian Dillard recorded seven points, six rebounds, three assists, and two steals.

 

Alex Matthews led John Hardin with 21 points, 11 rebounds, two assists, and two steals.  Preston Murrell added 15 points, six rebounds, and two assists.  Devon Rogers recorded nine points including four of four free throws.
