Eastern Illinois University defeated Eastern Kentucky University 97-85 in a game in which both teams shot above 55% from the field and both teams connected on 11 three point baskets.  The score was tied six times and there were three lead changes in the game.  Eastern Illinois shot 58.6% from the field including 11 of 22 from the three point line.  The Panthers connected on 18 of 26 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 13 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 55.2% from the field including 11 of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored seven points off nine Eastern Illinois turnovers.

 

Demetrius McReynolds led Eastern Illinois with 27 points including five three point baskets and 10 rebounds.  Cornell Johnston added 13 points and 10 assists.  AJ Riley also scored 13 points.  Casey Teson chipped in with 12 points.  6-11 Sr. Luke Piotrowski recorded 11 points.  Trae Anderson added nine points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.

Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Miranda Maples, 5-10 Sr. Shameekia Murray, 6-1 Jr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-8 Jr. Alexus Cooper, and 5-10 Jr. Michaela Hunter.  Jacksonville State University coach Rick Pietri countered with 6-1 So. Phelion Tyler, 5-8 Sr. Courtney Strain, 6-1 Fr. Chloe Long, 5-7 Sr. Destiny James, and 5-8 So. Gretchen Morrison.

 

Eastern Kentucky University outscored Jacksonville State University 20-6 in the second quarter on their way to a 76-50 victory.  Eastern Kentucky shot 56.9% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 13 of 14 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Jacksonville State turnovers.  Jacksonville State shot 33.3% from the field including five of 19 from beyond the arc.  The Gamecocks connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 14 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

Jalen O’Bannon led Eastern Kentucky with 28 points including 10 of 11 free throws.  Shameekia Murray added 14 points, six rebounds, and four assists.  Miranda Maples chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets.  Michaela Hunter recorded eight points, nine rebounds, and four assists.

 

5-9 Jr. Briana Benson led Jacksonville State with 13 points.  Courtney Strain added 12 points.  Tyler Phelion recorded six points and eight rebounds.
