Covington Catholic coach Scott Ruthsatz started the following lineup: 6-6 Jr. Chandler Starks, 6-2 Sr. Mekhi Wilson, 6-8 Sr. Mitchell Rylee, 5-11 Jr. Evan Ipsaro, and 6-1 Jr. Kascyl McGillis. Male coach Tim Haworth countered with 6-7 Sr. Dez Lindsay, 6-4 8th Grade Jayden Johnson, 6-7 Jr. Kaleb Glenn, 5-10 Jr. Jack Edelen, and 6-2 Jr. Demetrius White.
Male defeated Covington Catholic 73-68 in a game between two of the top teams in the state. Male shot 56.5% from the field including seven of 15 from the three point line. The Bulldogs connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and committed nine turnovers. Covington Catholic shot 54.3% from the field including seven of 13 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.
Kaleb Glenn led Male with 22 points including three three point baskets, five of seven free throws, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots. Dez Lindsay added 15 points, six rebounds, and four assists. Jack Edelen recorded 14 points including two three point baskets and four assists. Demetrius White chipped in with 13 points including four of four free throws.
Evan Ipsaro led Covington Catholic with 28 points including two three point baskets, eight of eight free throws, and six assists. Chandler Starks added 11 points, 10 rebounds, six assists, and three steals. 6-1 So. Brady Hussey recorded 11 points including three three point baskets. Mitchell Rylee chipped in with eight points and five rebounds.
