Northern Iowa coach Ben Jacobson started the following lineup: 6-7 Jr. Isaiah Brown, 6-5 So. Trae Berhow, 6-9 Jr. Luke McDonnell, 6-2 Sr. Wyatt Lohaus, and 6-4 Fr. A.J. Green. Northern Iowa led by 17 points with 4:29 left in the game but had to survive a furious rally by Eastern Kentucky to earn a 90-85 victory over the Colonels. Northern Iowa shot 44.8% from the field including 11 of 27 from the three point line. They connected on 27 of 33 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 15 Eastern Kentucky turnovers. Eastern Kentucky shot 38% from the field including 13 of 37 from beyond the arc. The Colonels connected on 18 of 23 free throws, pulled down 41 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 12 Northern Iowa turnovers.
A.J. Green led Northern Iowa with 23 points including three three point baskets. 6-1 Jr. Spencer Haldeman added 16 points including four three point baskets. Luke McDonnell recorded 13 points, five rebounds, and two blocked shots. Isaiah Brown also scored 13 points, pulled down five rebounds, and dished out three assists. Wyatt Lohaus chipped in with 12 points including two three point baskets.
Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 27 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds. 6-8 Jr. Lachlan Anderson added 14 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and two steals. Peyton Broughton recorded 12 points including three three point baskets. 6-8 Fr. Tre King also scored 12 points. Kelvin Robinson added 12 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals.
