Rockcastle County vs. Madison Central (Girls)

Rockcastle County coach Chrysti Noble started the following lineup: 5-8 Sr. Morgan Renner, 5-5 Jr. Mahala Saylor, 5-10 Sr. Ashley McKinney, 5-5 Jr. Hope Kelley, and 5-4 Jr. Jayna Albright.  Madison Central coach Robert Cooksey countered with 5-10 Jr. Lindsey Johns, 5-9 Sr. Kenadee Everly, 6-0 Jr. Mallie Cornett, 5-5 So. Bailee Vanover, and 5-5 Sr. Emily Willoughby.

 

Madison Central raced out to a 13-0 first quarter but Rockcastle County outscored the Indians 19-10 in the final quarter to earn a 49-43 victory.  The score was tied six times and there were seven lead changes in the game.  Rockcastle County shot 27.5% from the field including six of 13 from the three point line.  The Rockets connected on 15 of 23 free throws, pulled down 42 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 33.3% from the field including three of 12 from beyond the arc.  The Indians connected on 12 of 18 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 12 points off 13 Rockcastle County turnovers.

 

Hope Kelley led Rockcastle County with 29 points including four three point baskets and 11 of 14 free throws and pulled down seven rebounds.  Mahala Saylor added eight points including two three point baskets.  5-7 Jr. Emme Barker and 5-11 8th Grade Mackenzie Himes pulled down nine and seven rebounds respectively.

 

Lindsey Johns led Madison Central with 21 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals.  John’s first basket tonight gave her 1000 career points.  Mallie Cornett added eight points, seven rebounds, and seven blocked shots.  Emily Willoughby chipped in with six points on two three point baskets.
