Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-10 Jr. Michaela Hunter, 6-1 Sr. Miranda Maples, 5-5 Jr. Mariah Massengill, and 5-7 Fr. Jada Triplett.  Tennessee State coach Larry Joe Inman countered with 6-0 Jr. Jayda Johnson, 6-0 Jr. I’mani Davis, 6-1 Fr. Jordan Brightwell, 5-5 Jr. Maxine Beard, and 5-7 Sr. Brianna Lawrence.

 

Eastern Kentucky trailed 57-45 after three quarters but rallied in the final quarter to earn a 70-66 victory over Tennessee State.  There were five ties and two lead changes in this game.  Eastern Kentucky shot 44.4% from the field including five of 17 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 17 of 25 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 14 Tennessee State turnovers.  Tennessee State shot 41.5% from the field including two of 13 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Tigers connected on 10 of 15 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 19 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky only led for 2:18 seconds of the game.

 

Jalen O’Bannon led Eastern Kentucky with 25 points, 13 rebounds, and two steals.  5-10 Sr. Shameekia Murray added 14 points and three steals.  5-11 Fr. Abby Wright recorded 12 points on four three point baskets and four rebounds. 

 

Jayda Johnson led Tennessee State with 23 points, 11 rebounds, and four assists.  Jordan Brightwell added 14 points and six rebounds.  I’mani Davis recorded 11 points, seven rebounds, three assists, four blocked shots, and three steals.
