Eastern Kentucky University coach Chrissy Roberts started the following lineup: 6-1 Jr. Jalen O’Bannon, 5-10 Sr. Shameekia Murray, 6-1 Sr. Miranda Maples, 5-8 Jr. Alexus Cooper, and 5-10 Jr. Michaela Hunter. Eastern Illinois coach Debbie Black countered with 6-1 Jr. Erica Brown, 5-8 Jr. Phylicia Johnson, Halle Stull, 5-4 So. Grace Lennox, and 5-7 Sr. Shakita Cox.
Eastern Kentucky pulled away in the final quarter to defeat Eastern Illinois by a score of 75-56. Eastern Kentucky shot 45.3% from the field including four of 11 from the three point line. The Colonels connected on 13 of 16 free throws, pulled down 40 rebounds, and committed 13 turnovers. Eastern Illinois shot 33.3% from the field including four of 11 from beyond the arc. The Panthers connected on 14 of 23 free throws, pulled down 39 rebounds, and committed 20 turnovers.
Michaela Hunter led Eastern Kentucky with 24 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals. Alexus Cooper added 19 points including three three point baskets and three steals. Jalen O’Bannon recorded 10 points and six rebounds. Shameekia Murray chipped in with nine points, six rebounds, and three assists.
Phylicia Johnson led Eastern Illinois with 13 points and five rebounds. Halle Stull recorded 11 points, 11 rebounds, and three assists. Erica Brown recorded nine points, eight rebounds, and two blocked shots. Grace Lennox chipped in with eight points.
