Woodford County vs. Lafayette (Girls)

Woodford County coach Jay Lucas started the following lineup: 5-7 8th Grade Abby Moffett, 5-5 Sr. Erica Hysell, 5-11 8th Grade Delaney Enlow, 5-4 So. Peyton Rose, and 5-8 Sr. Caitlin Ferguson.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 5-11 Jr. Kiara Pankins, 5-9 So. Caroline Bennett, 5-9 Sr. Aisha Conwell, 5-6 So. Terri Abram, and 5-8 8th Grade Shelbi Wilson.

 

Lafayette trailed 34-33 after three quarters but rallied for a 48-40 victory over Woodford County.  Lafayette led 31-23 at halftime but Woodford County outscored the Lady Generals 11-2 in the third quarter to take the lead at the end of three quarters.  Lafayette held a 14-6 advantage in second chance points.

 

Lafayette shot 31.4% from the field including two of nine from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on 14 of 19 free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 21 points off 21 Woodford County turnovers.  Woodford County shot 40.5% from the field including four of 14 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Yellow Jackets connected on six of eight free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Lafayette turnovers.

 

Kiara Pankins led Lafayette with 14 points and nine rebounds.  Terri Abram added 11 points.  Caroline Bennett recorded 10 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.  Aisha Conwell chipped in with seven points, six rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.

 

Caitlin Ferguson led Woodford County with 17 points including three three point baskets and six rebounds.  Delaney Enlow added 10 points, six rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Abby Moffett recorded six points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
