Thought this might be helpful to some anglers
who wish to fish these waters for the first time, nothing worse than arriving to
a vast loch for first time and not knowing where to fish it. The hot spots are
marked in red around edge of loch where my friends and I have caught fish before
just click on pictures below to enlarging them. If you have any Hot Spots to
share please send to my email with some information about these lochs and some
hot spot markings on the loch thanks.
Loch
Cluanie
Loch
Cluanie
is
situated to the south of Inverness, from Inverness take the A82 to
Invermoriston which is roughly 30 miles, then take the A887 for about 20
miles go past the Dam wall for a bout 2 miles and to the left will be a
bay drive to the end and there's a car park there with not a far walk to
it remember your wellie's rather wet banking. I have seen pike up to 15
lbs being caught from the loch my personal best from this loch was 11.5
lbs using a deadbait eel. |

Loch
Luichart
|
Loch
Luichart is
6 miles (10) long and situated to the west of Inverness head on the A9
north to Tore roundabout then second on left take the A835 to Maryburgh
then second on the left again still follow the A835 for about 12 miles
take a left to Achnasheen on the A832 for about 5 miles till you come to
Luichart village keep going until you pass the station sign and
there will be a car park on your left. There is is a clearing through the
trees take this cross two burns till you come to the railway line NOW
YOU NEED TO TAKE CARE HERE AS YOU HAVE TO CROSS A RAILWAY BRIDGE
once crossed head down to the left be a bit of
a struggle climbing down and that's you there. Only problem here is
sometimes there's water in it sometimes there's not as it is a Hydro Dam
and they do let it out so if no water keep walking around the bay till you
reach water. Beware it is very boggy in some parts so watch where your
putting your feet. I'm not sure what's been heaviest pike from this water
but I have my personal best from this loch which is 20 lb and Gary had a
19.5 lb the previous week before. |
Loch Nan
Geadas & Loch Duntelchaig
Loch
Nan Geadas & Loch Duntelchaig is
situated to the south of Inverness, you take the B862 head south to you
reach Dores the road branches to the left stay on the B862 for about 3
miles till you come to a cattle grid then look to your left side then you
will see a nice inlet bay this is Loch Nan Geadas make sure you bring your
wellie's as it's boggy in parts, I've seen pike caught in here up to 14lb's my personal best from here is
14lb.You also need a permit to fish
this water which is free and can be obtained from Scottish
Water, Torridon House, Beechwood Business Park, Inverness, IV2 3BW. |

Loch
Garve
|
Loch
Garve
is
situated to the west of Inverness head on the A9 north to Tore roundabout
then second on left take the A835 to Maryburgh then second on the left
again still follow the A835 for about 10 miles and Loch Garve will be on
your right hand side. My best so far from this loch has been 10.25
lb but there are supposed to be pike up to 30lb caught from here. |
