EXTRA! EXTRA! -- National Turtle Exquisitor Exclusive: Statements from the Disk

Recap of Year 11, Century of the Confused Turtle

Peace Comes To The Disk!

The omens seen in Lancre this year all pointed to the coming culmination of the War for Domination of the Disc. (Although there were questions over whether or not the explosion of the cottage of the Sage of Cabbage-and-Beans was really a mystical omen, or just desserts.)

With the discovery of mysterious protection spells on the fort in Momerathia previously occupied by a Genuan army, both the Agatean Emperor and Brother Jhake of Klatch maintained a watching brief in the Spring Prime of this year. They met in Borogravia, according to sources, to discuss the Genuan Conundrum, to wit: how could the Duc, with no forces at his command and no way to recruit, be a party to a peace treaty? Was there a way to arrange the treaty talks so that the Duc could be excluded? The stated goal of these two leaders, devoted to each other for so long, was for each nation to have equal share of the Disk, but the deserted Genuan outpost in Momerathia mocked this.

After extended debate and negotiations, it was determined that as long as the fort in Momerathia flew the Genuan flag, occupied or not, the Duc would have to take at least a nominal part in any treaty talks. The only way to exclude him would be to defeat the protection spells and take down the Genuan flag -- but the nation which did so would then automatically have a majority of the Disk under control and thus become Om's favoured.

In a discussion still unknown, the Emperor and Brother Jhake came to an agreement, and in the Autumn Secundus the Agateans made a move on the Momerathian fort, supported by Klatchians stationed in Borogravia. This proved efficacious, and the protection spells were defeated. Despite the attempt to raise both Klatchian and Agatean flags over the fort, the Great God Om cast Emperor Dozen Dancing Daisies ("Dave" to his confidants) in a golden halo and a great voice proclaimed him Ruler of the Disk.
