On the other side of the Circle Sea, the forces of the Patrician went head-to-head with the Theocracy's soldiers over Ushistan and Vanglemesh. After the dust settled, only the fleets of the two governments had managed to move anywhere.
The barbarian mariners of the Hublands recruited help from the kamikaze sailors of the Agatean Empire in taking The Big Bight. However, the extra assistance was not necessary, since the XXXX navy took a sailabout to the Land of Fog.
Then in Autumn Secundus the scrum occurred again rimward of the Circle Sea. Not having learnt anything the previous campaigning season, Circle Cities and Muntab once again went at it over the province of Ushistan. This time, however, the religious zealots won out and forced the cabbage-eaters to retreat to Betrek. Meanwhile, more Muntabians and a contingent of Klatchians moved into Vanglemesh and The Great Nef, seemingly closing in on the Circle Cities.
Genua finally got its wish to sail the Turnwise Widdershins Ocean, as the XXXX returned to its Dreaming in Purdeighsland. The Hublanders, making surprisingly good sailors and again with the never-say-die help of the Agatean navy, booted the XXXX fleet out of the Land of Fog and into the plane of Limbo.
An interesting triangle developed turnwise of Agatea between the Empire, the clans of the Oggs, and Klatch, as the ocean and islands rimwards of the Oggish lands were hotly contested. The clan sailors, led by Shane Ogg, failed to take back Wyrmberg. In returning to the Hubwards Turnwise Ocean, he was forced to oust invading Klatchians sneaking in from the Pseudopolitan Sea. A companion Klatchian camel-of-the-ocean attempted to take the Brown Islands off the Oggs, but found that the Ogg fleet which had been sailing to the Sea of Storms had been forced to retreat by a matching incursion in the same spot by Agatean marines from the BeTrobi Islands (who likewise retreated back to BeTrobi). The retreating Oggs forced the Klatchians back to the Gorunna Trench.
After a pause to regather what wits were left to them, the leaders of the Discworld's powers reassessed their positions in Backspindlewinter of 02. In an unusual move for a naval power, the Emperor of Agatea conscripted an army in Sum Dim, in addition to the usual fleet which was based in HungHung. The Patrician of the Circle Cities dismantled the ships of the Sto Plains fleet, allowing the sailors to return to their cabbage-patches. The Hubland barbarians called a great meeting and slapped together another army on the Hubland Steppes, and Klatchian naval officers nicked some of the lumber from the dismantled Sto fleet to make their own fleet in Howondaland. After all the wrangling, the Theocracy of Muntab found itself with enough resources to support another army, and promptly prayed one into existence. Shane Ogg, after all his efforts on behalf of his clan, discovered discharge papers for him and his crew in a special broomstick-messenger, and went home to help Jason in the forge. And in XXXX, the fleet that had wandered to Limbo from the Land of Fog found its way back through the Dreamtime to rebuild in Hubwards New Llamedos.
