Unlike these widdershin folks, the Klatchian units had full success in their movements. However, it was easy for them, with only the fleet attacking the Hubwards Turnwise Ocean meeting any resistance, in the form of an Oggish fleet wanting the same empty patch of water. With the help of fellow camel-of-the-ocean from the Pseudopolitan Sea, the Klatchians won out and the kinsmen retreated back to the Brown Islands to work on their tans. They had good news, however, in that their clans-folk on the mainland did not lose any territory despite a barbarian attempt on Lancre. At the same time, though, the Ramtops were not wrested from Hublander control, precisely because of the attack on Lancre.
Agatean forces made further inroads in the Ogg homeland, mooring a fleet in the Octarine Grass Country. Another fleet was brought in from the BeTrobi Islands to the Sea of Storms, seemingly to reinforce the Ogg occupation. Other of the emperor's forces seemed to mill about randomly, obeying Brownian motion commands rather than a deliberate strategy. The XXXX nation must've had a holiday, as no-one moved there and, indeed, their leader wasn't even heard from.
In the Autumn Secundus of this year, Genua finally got its wish and forced the Circle Cities' army out of Borogravia. The attack was an equal effort between Genua and Muntab, though it still remains to see what the Muntabians got out of it. The path of the smashed cabbages indicate that the retreat was to Istanzia. The swamplanders had another victory, ousting the Hublanders from No Thingfjord and into the Trollbone Mountains.
Meanwhile, the barbarians were busily chasing Oggs all over the Ramtops. With a concerted effort between the barbarians in the Ramtop Mountains and Oolskunrahod, Llamedos was taken (despite an attempt on their part to take the Ramtop Mountains, oddly thwarted by kin from Lancre and degenerating into a family feud) and family members forced to run to Cutshade. In Ku, the barbarians retained their hold of the island by returning from the Hubwards Widdershins Ocean to fight off Agatean interlopers from the Widdershins Widdershins Ocean. And the Hublander fleet in The Big Bight were startled by the sudden appearance of aboriginal fleets from XXXX, panicked, and jumped overboard, never to be seen again.
Agatea caused the Hublanders to lose their foothold near the Counterweight Continent and XXXX by taking the Land of Fog from the mainland barbarians. In a surprise convoy, an infantry troop, complete with Barking Dogs Mark IV, sailed through the Sea of Storms to Gonim, giving the emperor a foothold on the mainland.
The Ogg fleet in the Brown Islands were destroyed by Klatchian forces sneaking in from rimwards; apparently the hubward fleet was busy convoying camels from Hersheba to Chimera, causing another Ogg heart failure and retreat, this time to the Octarine Grass Country. A herd of camels also ensconced itself in the Great Nef, though probably without a wand and broomstick, unless their turnwise fellows sent them some.
After all these surprise convoys and retreats, the G8 leaders decided to take advantage of the lull of Backspindlewinter and recruited new fighters in time for Hogswatch. The Hublanders, Muntabians, and XXXX were unable to find any willing to fight. Agatea had enough people write compelling poems about dewdrops on grass blades to assemble an army in Bes Pelargic, whilst the Patrician was forced to let the Betrek army go -- but not into the Ankh-Morpork City Watch. Genua dredged the swamps and found an army for itself and the Blade Mountains. Klatch looked round and discovered it had bred enough camels to outfit a new force in Re'Durat, and once again took over an Ogg derelict and rebuilt it into a fleet for Al Khali. The Oggs were so busy blaming each other and bickering that the armies in Cutshade and the Octarine Grass Country just walked off into the bracken.
