Creative writing keeps public informed
Serving as
Creative Writer with Maritime Staff Public Affairs provided me many
pleasures.
I am proud to have contributed to Operation Apollo: The golden age of the Canadian Navy in the war against terrorism, a book written by Canadian naval historian and retired Canadian Armed Forces officer Dr. Richard Gimblett.
I also researched and wrote articles for Unsung
Heroes: Canadians Helping Canadians In The Face Of Disaster, a book about disaster relief efforts within
Canada, and about how the Royal Canadian Navy has contributed to those efforts
– a real eye-opener for me and, I hope, for readers
across the country.
Another facet of the work I very much enjoyed involved editing personal profiles written by sailors for the RCN website. They were candid, sometimes poignant, always entertaining, and revealed the dedication and caring of RCN personnel.
My website work also included the regular writing
and updating of texts for the News &
Information and Operations & Exercises
areas of the RCN site.
