Model Countries and Micronations
Net Neutrality is not government regulation!
These are model countries that function as either:
- large-scale role playing games.
- phantom countries complete with fictional cities and armies.
- exercises in governmental protocol (often compaired to "diplomatic model railroads").
- exercises in historical and/or cultural interest.
- artistic or social statements.
Some are run by groups of people, others by individuals.
Some have plans for actual territorial claim in the future, while others are simply maintained as entertainment, or to make a social comment.
A number of micronations listed here have been removed, because their URL links are either closed or are non-functioning. A list of those micronations are listed here:
Missing Micronations
If you know the new URL's or the present status of those micronations, contact me via e-mail. Thank you in advance.

Some websites are not in English. Approximate translations can be read via the AltaVista Online Translator.
Latest links added/updated - 15 January 2008.
Due to the vast number of virtual states listed here,
they have been broken up into alphabetical groupings.
