Chattanooga coach Katie Burrows started the following lineup: 6-0 So. Eboni Williams, 6-0 Jr. Bria Dial, 6-2 So. Abbey Cornelius, 5-8 Sr. Lakelyn Bouldin, and 5-10 Sr. Nakeia Burks..  Eastern Kentucky University coach Samantha Williams countered with 5-11 Jr. Bria Bass, 5-8 Sr. Shay Solomon, 6-2 Jr. I’Liyah Green, 5-6 Jr. Teri Goodlett, and 5-7 Jr. De’Ayra Davis.

 

Eastern Kentucky erased an early seven point deficit in the final quarter to defeat Chattanooga by a score of 71-65.  Chattanooga trailed by 12 early in the second quarter but 5-6 Fr. PG Dena Jarrells came off the bench to spark a comeback and helped pull the Mocs to within 2; 33-31 at halftime.  Unfortunately for Chattanooga Jarrells rolled her ankle early in the third quarter and was not able to return.  Chattanooga came out firing in the final quarter and led by seven points with 8:41 left in the game before EKU rallied for the win.  There were six ties and eight lead changes in the game.

 

Eastern Kentucky shot 39.3% from the field including eight of 20 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 15 of 20 free throws, pulled down 46 rebounds, scored nine points off 10 Chattanooga turnovers, and held a 23-8 advantage in bench scoring.  Chattanooga shot 38.1% from the field including seven of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Mocs connected on 10 of 16 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 15 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.

 

De’Ayra Davis led Eastern Kentucky with 23 points including four three point baskets, five rebounds, and three assists.  Davis was also five of six free throws hitting some clutch free throws down the stretch.  Bria Bass added 17 points including two three point baskets and five rebounds.  6-1 Jr. Samari Mowbray recorded nine points, nine rebounds, and three blocked shots.  I’Liyah Green scored three points, pulled down 14 rebounds, and blocked two shots.

 

Eboni Williams led Chattanooga with 23 points including two three point baskets, 11 rebounds, two blocked shots, and three steals.  Lakelyn Bouldin added 12 points, three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Nakeia Burks also reached double digits with 10 points , three rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  Dena Jarrells came off the bench to add six points and four assists before suffering an ankle injury.
