Scott County escaped tonight with a 71-70 victory over Bryan Station.  There were 10 lead changes and five ties in this game.  Bryan Station led 36-32 at halftime.  Scott County shot 42.6% from the field including six of 23 from the three point line.  The Cardinals connected on 19 of 23 free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored 17 points off 14 Bryan Station turnovers.  Bryan Station shot 45.2% from the field including seven of 28 from beyond the arc.  The Defenders connected on seven of 12 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 11 points off 11 Scott County turnovers.

Sacred Heart Academy eked out an 83-81 victory over Casey County tonight.  There were 14 lead changes and seven ties in this game.  Sacred Heart shot 58.8% from the field including five of 11 from the three point line.  The Valkyries connected on 18 of 24 free throws, pulled down 24 rebounds, and scored 25 points off 16 Casey County turnovers.  Casey County shot 51.9% from the field including 11 of 23 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Rebels connected on 16 of 18 free throws, pulled down 27 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 14 Sacred Heart turnovers.

Kristen Clemons led Sacred Heart with 27 points including 11 of 13 free throws, nine rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Destinee Marshall added 21 points including two three point baskets.  Erin Toller recorded 18 points including three three point baskets and three rebounds.

Morgan DeFoor led Scott County with 30 points including eight three point baskets, four rebounds, seven assists, and three steals.  Kenady Tompkins added 28 points and 16 rebounds.  Malea Williams recorded 16 points, 15 rebounds, and four blocked shots.  Kennon Owens chipped in with 10 points, four rebounds, and four assists.

Great Crossing outscored Scott County 13-6 in the third quarter on their way to a 64-52 victory over Scott County in a big victory for Great Crossing in their inaugural season.  There were four lead changes and two ties in the game.  Great Crossing shot 46.3% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line.  The Warhawks connected on 20 of 25 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 11 Scott County turnovers. Scott County shot 40% from the field including three of 16 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on nine of 11 free throws, pulled down 22 rebounds, and scored 10 points off 11 Great Crossing turnovers.

Tye Schureman led five Great Crossing starters in double figures with 15 points including four three point baskets.  Jaylin Barber added 14 points, 11 rebounds, and five blocked shots.  Neil Baker recorded 13 points, three rebounds, and four assists.  Michael McKenzie chipped in with 12 points, five rebounds, and three steals.  KJ Tucker added 10 points and six rebounds.

Covington Catholic led 38-37 at the half and pulled away after the intermission to defeat Beckley Prep by a score of 71-60.  Covington Catholic shot 53.5% from the field including six of 14 from the three point line.  The Colonels connected on 19 of 24 free throws, pulled down 29 rebounds, and committed 14 turnovers.  Beckley Prep shot 46.5% from the field including seven of 17 from beyond the arc.  They connected on 13 of 17 free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and committed 16 turnovers.

Grant Disken led Covington Catholic with 17 points including four of four free throws and five assists.  Neil Green added 16 points on eight of 10 from the field.  Donovan Stocks recorded12 points including two three point baskets and four of four free throws.  Chandler Starks chipped in with nine points, eight rebounds, three assists, and two steals.  7-1 Sr. Noah Hupmann pulled down seven rebounds and blocked four shots.

Frederick Douglass defeated Madison Southern by a score of 80 – 66.  Douglass led by 21 points midway through the second quarter but Madison Southern battled back to within six points; 67-61 with 5:05 left in the game.  Madison Southern missed several free throws down the stretch and Douglass finished the game on a 13-5 run.  Douglass shot 51.9% from the field including 10 of 24 from the three point line.  The Broncos connected on 14 of 20 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 26 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 40% from the field including six of 22 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on 20 of 29 free throws, pulled down 32 rebounds, and scored 26 points off 21 Douglass turnovers.

Berea defeated Madison Central by a score of 51-48.  The score was tied three times and there were nine lead changes in the game.  The game was won at the free throw line as Madison Central was whistled for 18 fouls and Berea only was charged with six fouls.  Madison central was three of six from the free throw line while Berea was 19 of 31 from the charity stripe.  Berea shot 31.1% from the field including four of 16 from the three point line.  The Pirates pulled down 34 rebounds and scored 13points off 12 Madison Central turnovers.  Madison Central shot 36.4% from the field including five of 18 from beyond the arc.  The Indians pulled down 39 rebounds and scored seven points off 10 Berea turnovers.

Madison Howell led Berea with 19 points including eight of 11 free throws and seven rebounds.  Alexis Newman added 14 points including three three point baskets.  Isis Rodgers recorded seven points, five rebounds, four assists, and three steals.  Mackenzie Howell added six points and four rebounds.
