Middle-Earth Role Playing II. Race and Culture.
The Race and Culture of a character is very important. For one, the character’s race will determine their appearance and physical appearance, their behavior, and their special abilities. Along with the culture and the languages in which they may be able to speak. Lastly, the race will also affect the Stats done in part I.
Appearance (AP)
| |
– The Appearance of a character is based on a number scale of 1 – 100, like the stats, the lower the number the “worst” and the higher the number the “better” the character appears as in a general sense.
Physical Appearance
| |
– Factors such as height, weight, hair color, eye color, gender, age, and so on have also been listed within the race section. Feel free to chose something along the lines of the race as listed.
Demeanor
| |
– Within the character’s race, there is a small section on possible demeanors that a character of that race may have. Feel free to add, change, or mix these demeanors in order to build your character’s attitude.
Language
| |
– Within the other factors section of the Races, there was a section devoted to the languages. These languages have been divided down into five different ranks.
Rank 1 – Allows basic verbal communications through simple phrases (e.g., safe to eat? Danger ahead? What is cost? Where is bathroom?, ect. ) No reading or writing.
Rank 2 – Allows speech on very simple subjects, through simple sentences if both parties speak slowly and with great care. Allows reading of simple sentences for a basic overview, but few details and no writing.
Rank 3 – Allows speech with a fluency equivalent to that of an average native speaker, but without the tonal qualities ( i. E., the speech would be accented). Allows the ability to read and write moderately simple passages but not for subtle concepts (i.e. about fifth grade level).
Rank 4 – Speech as in Rank 3, and the ability to read and write an average literate man (i.e. about ninth grade level).
Rank 5 – Allows absolute fluency with no accent and total literacy.

Stats
| |
Yes, like I said above, the mental and physical stats will be changed based on the race in which the character is. Another thing which is also determined here, is the modifications to some of the resistance rolls.
